If so, why isn't there much talk about them?? Are they failing, are they rock solid? Or is no one running them yet?

Also, can you run a Neu motor with the RX8?

Still waiting on mine to get there. And yes, you can run a Neu on the RX8 just fine. You just wont get the advantage of running sensored.

People are running them with great success. We did see one motor issue but other than that pretty good thus far.

Yes you can run a Neu motor on the RX8!

Hmmm, makes me wonder. I'm waiting on my 6th MMM, and quite frankly, the whole thing is getting old. Anyway, if this is better, I'll get it. 2 more Q's:

- how long before I can easily just buy an rx8? how long before stock will be good everywhere?

- I have a tekno neu, which I thought was the best, that's why I got it. I don't race, and never will. I just want a RELIABLE motor for running my monster truck any way I can think of and not having to worry about it blowing up. Should I get the tekin motor and dump my neu? if yes, WHY??

The Tekno/Neu is a good motor. I wouldn't toss it away.

Try the RX8 with it first. It's not sensored like our T8's but the RX8 works very well with those motors.

It’s a little early to tell just how durable the RX8 is, but I have run about 20 batteries thru my RX8 1350kv motor system. The motor ran a little hot, after checking the RPM of the motor it is really is about a 1475kv motor. So my gearing was a little high. After dropping a couple of teeth to 15/46 it cooled off. I really like the system. It’s just so consistent. My first race with the new RX8 is this weekend. I think the system is more durable than the MMM, but I think the CC 2200kv is a little faster. One thing that shocked me is there is no neutral motor breaking at all. When you let off the trigger the car will coast forever. I think with the added control of the RX8, my lap times will actually be faster. We will see.

Hmm, I hope I'm going to be ok running 16/46 on 6s in a Mugen MBX5t. Please note that I put the KV as 1410 because that was my best guess for the 1350s actual KV.

Here was the output using BrianG's Calc:

Differential Ratio: 4.6
Transmission Ratio: 1
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 46
Pinion Tooth Count: 16
Total Voltage: 22.2
Motor KV: 1410
Tire Diameter (inches): 5.84
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 2.88 : 1
Total Ratio: 13.225 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 18.35 inches (466.01 mm)
Total Motor Speed: 31302 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 41.12 mph (66.06 km/h)
Effective KV Value: 1410
KT constant: 0.96 oz-in/A

What do you mean by no Braking, is the motor slotted? neat concept. my cc2200 combo doesnt really have that much rolling resistance. Cant wait to see a head to head competition between the two.

I actually got lower temps this weekend than I have with the 1515/2.5d Neu motor(truggy 1700Kv on 5s). Motor was barely 120 after a 20 minute main - it was a cool day, but similar conditions would yield 15-20 degrees higher temps on my Neu motor. I hope it stands the test of time, but so far i am loving it!
