Where's d spark? - 06.01.2009, 09:24 PM

I have two 6s 5000 zippy used to give out a spark when I plug my esc connectors. But since I hv ran them 20mins straight last week they no longer spark?

Is that a good thing or not?

Cells are ok, I have LVC n they cut at 3.2v

It would be MUCH easier if you typed out "have" instead of saying "hv" cause most people might think "hv" is "High Voltage."

Just a thought.

You might just be getting lucky when plugging them in.

The spark is from charging the caps on the esc. I don't think the battery could prevent the spark unless it's REALLY poor..... but it's not something I have ever thought about before.

btw, have you tried running the 4s setup again???

How do the connectors look? Over time, the sparking will eat away at the connector and blacken where the spark connects. Could be you just have enough "char" on the connectors right when you plug them in that the resistance allows a relatively slow charge of the caps.

Your caps could be bad too, but you'd probably be able to tell by unstable operation, excessive heat, caps physically puffed, etc.

I wouldn't worry about it, if everything seems to be running fine otherwise.

Last time I checked, "izzit" requires you to hit the same number of keys as "is it".

I'm with GD- If it's running fine, don't worry about it.

I think your caps are dead, thats why there is no spark, you should carefully open the case and check caps condition if possible measure them also.
But it could be also just like BrianG said, char on connectors.
