Cheap alternative to Castle 2200KV Motor

I was wondering what a cheap alternative would be to the Castle/Neu 2200KV motor, maybe someone could recommend something off of Hobbycity.

Cheap? Nothing cheap compare to it really. The CC/Neu is the cheapest and best quality motor option available.

Dont buy the hobbycity motors, I've had 2, and cooked them both- one after only one run.

They are basically even cheaper feigaos in design, they dont handle heavy loads or aggressive driving well at all.

For cheap and good, the best you can do is a Medusa- 80mm 2200kv item is most comparable to an MMM2200kv motor in terms of power and efficiency ( I know Linc said he doesnt like them, but I think thats more to do with comparing them to larger motors; the 80mm is equal to a 1515 neu roughly).

When it comes to BL motors "you get what you pay for". I'm always looking for a budget HobbyCity setup but time after time I'm told by others that it's worth it to spend the money on a Medusa/Neu motor.

i've found alot of success with the feigao 8xl. it's a 2073KV motor :

it's comparable to speed and power with the neu, but it dosen't have anywhere the effeciency the neu's or medusas have for longevity in a race in terms of temps.


if you gear low and run small tracks or bash, then the feigao's are fine. if you're looking to run mains at your track, you can't sacrifice in that department, and you should go for a neu or medusa.

i've had several medusas, and while they have a ton of torque, it sorely lacks in top speed imo.

Meh, I would agree that the 80mm is about the same as a 1515. I have been nothing but impressed with the cc 2200 motors, and less than entralled with medusa. The cc motor is the best deal out there for 4 and 5s and even worked very well in a lst...

Do not discount the tekin motors either, they look very nice and are avialbe in a few more winds. The truggy motors should do as well as the cc 2200. I can't wait for the 1518 - on 8s lipo with the upcoming 8s MMM that Patrick has hinted at...

1518... weird, I was just thinking the other day that they need to fill that gap with something, and I thought 1518, lol.

MMM 8s would be nice, they need to do a 10s or 12s MMM.

I have a Losi 1700kv, you can get them here in Germany for approx. 120 USD, which is pretty ok. They're not very popular yet, nevertheless I really like the torque & perfomance of the motor.

well, that will be difficult.

there are these align outrunner/inrunner looking motors, align 600l with about 1600kv; you can get them cheap on egay, or of course here at rcm. I had one, at least better then KD etc...

I was pretty happy with it, but had a crash and a magnet got loose. there are some conversions out there with these align outrunners (a heli motor).
