Nice...have you run it yet? Reason I ask is w/all of your electronics so close together, you may have some glitching. Also, in the pics...it looks like your switch is right next to the motor...if it is, I would find another home for it.

I am not trying to be A pita w/my suggestions...that's all they are, just suggestions.

By the way...WELCOME TO RCM!

Thankyou , i have run it several times after the pic's and have had no problems but i prob. should relocate the on/off switch. By any chance do you know of any good tires for some on/offroad bashing that fit the stock rim's? , all i know is the dirt hawgs bc you need 2.2 buggy rear's but id like to try something else.

If you do graduate to 2.2 rims go w/the gladiator tires. Work well in many conditions and many of us here use then on our crt.5's

I have the CRT.5 and a variety of tires for it. I have a set of the buggy dirthawgs and like them for all terrain running, I also have a set of Traxxas bandit anacondas for speed runs on the road, a set of Slash tires which are another decent AT tire, and a set of Jconcepts buggy DoubleDee's for track use. Tire choice depends alot on the kind of running you want to do. I raced with the DoubleDee's at the bash on Sunday and they where awesome, but the track was relatively flat compared to my local track. At my local track the stock/buggy size tires are to small for the huge jumps, bumps, and ruts. I have thrown the slash tires on at my track, they are the only 1/10 truck tires I have, and it actually seemed better even with less traction just cause they got through the rough stuff better. If your gonna run on ashphalt alot then the anacondas are a great tire, I kinda like the dirthawgs better though cause they provide a better contact area.

As for your setup, the one thing your gonna want to start looking into is a better motor. Those Castle motors really aren't up to the task of powering one of these little truggies. They heat up and the smaller shaft will likely break soon. Normally I would suggest a Medusa as I have one and many others are running them but they have decided to leave the RC business. I ran a Novak HV4.5 on 2s lipo with a Mamba Max when I first got mine and it was a good motor for it, ran cool and had smooth power. Neus are a great choice, a 1506 or 1509. Many have also had good success with the Traxxas velineon motors, theres also the feigaos and Hobby City motors, and even though they aren't the greatest quality an L can HC motor should stay plenty cool and even after shipping is less than $50 I beleive.

Thankyou i have a slash so i will try the tires out , i also have a set of rpm narrow revolvers with flatirons for my slash i just picked up , ill try those even though thell prob be too big. Maybe ill pick up the dirt hawgs soon and some stock rims. Thanks for all the info. Oh and so far i have not had anyproblems with the 5700kv motor , i have been monitering temp's , this is like my 5th castle motor already , i know of the heat issue's , never snapped a shaft in my life yet. I also have a vxl motor i may try in the future but as for now with the stock pinion i preffer the higher top speed with my 5700kv.

With any of the bigger tires your going to want to gear down, esspecially with the 5700kv castle motor, you may also find that by gearing down a little with stock tires may actually be a bit faster. That motor is drawing some big current with the stock gearing and unless you have a top notch battery it most likely can't supply it. I have plated around alot with gearing on mine and higher gearing only gains speed to a point then you slow down

i got some hole's cut in the body to help with cooling and venom temp sensor to monitor temp's , also have a temp gun . I have had no problems so far with temps really running a 6 cell matched and 2s lipo , plenty of power so far although id like to try a 3s lipo but i sold all mine off. Bigger tires def. will make it heavier and i know i will need to gear down , just dont wanna pick up a pinion yet bc there expensive for these lil things. By any chance do you know my top speed with my setup and everything being stock ? do you really think if i gear down i will go faster top end wise ?

Look for BrianG on here. In his signature is a link to a top speed calculator. VERY USEFUL TOOL!!!! I'm not positive but I think the stock pinion is 16t and that puts you at 45mph, I doubt your pulling that with the castle motor. I would suggest a 13t with that motor which will put you about 37mph which is still fast and prolly closer to what your actually seeing now, if that's the case you will gain runtime as you'll be pulling less amps with the proper gearing

i think it may be 14t stock but im not sure aswell, but why would you doubt id be pulling 40+ with this castle motor , i have done over 60+ in other vehicles with this same motor , it is a 5700kv , its really not a bad motor , i mean i have had better but this motor aint so bad aslong as you keep temps under control. honestly id really like to be doing 50+ in this hyper mini with this motor , what gearing do you think i should go with to achieve that or do u think i should jsut pick up a 3slipo? also it is the newer version of the 5700kv motor , few small changes i used to have the older one and it overheated all the time. I also have a vxl motor laying around but this 5700kv will produce a higher top speed and thats what im looken for speeed ...
