i just did something very stupid, i plugged my MM in the wrong way
i think it has toasted the board (grew very hot very quickly) will CC still replace this if i pay my $50 ?
I've also soldered my own switch onto it, (a big one from a teu101bk esc) so will i get that back if they replace the unit or should i clip it off?
A strong enough battery connected in reversed polarity will cause HORRIBLE CURRENT to flow through the diodes in all MOSFETs and burn them all. Talk to Castle and see what they say.
Lol I tried to mod my MM and sent it to them in a little baggy in pieces with half the components dead from my dodgy soldering/desoldering attempts and they replaced it for $50 no questions. In email correspondence I was told I could douse it in petrol, burn it and send them the ashes and I'd still get a new one for $50.
I think you'll be fine :)
That said, test it first. I did that to my sidewinder and it didnt work straight away, but came good after a few minutes. not sure what happened, but it ended up working OK :)

Have you tried connecting to it with a different set of batteries since this happened?
I did the same thing once and it de-soldered one of the battery leads, disconnecting the circuit and saving the MM. All I had to do was re-solder the battery lead and I was off and running again.
I'm not sure about getting the switch back, but i always take my deans off for precaution. I guess it depends on if they will repair it or replace it. if they repair it, theres no reason for them to take off that switch, if they replace it, you might not get it back. another question to call castle about.
You should Contact CC and tell them what happened. They'll be able to advice you further, whether to attempt to power up the MM again (batteries the right way around) or to send it in. I did the same thing to my MMM on 6S once but the resulting spark stopped me in my tracks before any further damage was done. I thought I had fried my MMM, so I attempted to use Castle Link, and it worked like it always had. I re-installed the F/W (reverted to 1.19 and then installed 1.20 again), both times it was successful. I configured all the settings at their lowest, and plugged in a 6 cell NiMh, it booted up fine, tones and all, BEC was working, but I didn't try to drive it because the pack can't handle the motor and gearing setup. Then I hooked up the 6S packs, and its none the worse for wear, except for the scarred connector. I didn't change it out though, I cleaned and dremel'd it thoroughly but wanted to keep it as a reminder of my stupidity and how I should keep my wits about me when dealing with sensitive equipment.
