hi, mike here from western,n.c. after reading for awhile,i still cant decide exactly what to get for batteries,also any advise on the 8te is appreciated .i have been running brushless for about 6/7 years in various forms in a t3 then a t4 then t4/lipos.at our track(behind my business)with the t4/cc 5700 on 2s.if i run hard as i can i can easily get the motor up to 170f with fairly conservative gearing.with that said i have just finished building my first 1/8,a rc8te w/cc2200 and monster combo.i would love to see it get around the track faster than the t4(about 26 sec now for aprox 725ft down the center)and cooler temps if possible as i dont want to see it go up in flames.racing is the goal with some speed runs from time to time.still tring to get the track interest up as we built it in 2002 and ran hard for 3 yrs untill remains of 2 hurricanes in 2005 washed it mostly away.as the track was built by hand with aprox.90 tonns of dirt shoveled and raked(no bobcats/tractors) kinda made me gave up till recently myself and 1 friend recently reshoveled about 45 more tonns to repair.i said all that to get to this.some people are starting to show up toplay/race and i use the t4 and hopefully the rc8t to generate interest and then get to race also so do i need 4s?,5s?6s?: longest straight is about 135-140 ft..this has been agreat deal of work for a person with a terrible back,70hr workweeks and 3 kids.but i can say this much,my boys love it and so do i!great site here and i think yall can advise me better than anyplace i have read so please have at it.by the way track pics are at www.linvillemtngemshop.com under raceway.we plan to keep improving as we go.anyway its great to be here and thats my rc story-mike

Welcome to RCM!

Around here, hobbycity packs are accepted for the price, and hyperion are the best you can get, and won't break the bank doing it. Flightpower packs are also amzing. Stay away from maxamps or your cat will have bad luck for 7 years.

4s is enough for racing. It is lightweight and it'll get the job done. You could run more, but it's just extra weight and power. I would start off with a 4s pack and if you're not happy you can get a bigger battery I guess.

And make sure to use spaces and capital letters man. Some of us around here are grammar freaks.

That is a pretty nice track. I'm in Asheville, NC so when I get my license in Feb. I'll have to drive down there. It's a pretty long drive (58 miles/1 hour) but it looks like a really nice track.

I have been to your gem shop before.

Didnt know there was a RC track back there. Next time I am up that way I will have to bring some RC's with me. Need some big jump on the track but it looks really nice and smooth now.

Thanks for the input...and I'll try to remember correct grammar...haven't been in school since about 10 yrs. before you were born...come to think about it,i really don't remember much about school. Did you spell amazing without the 2nd a on purpose? Kinda reminds me of my kids to tell me how to do something when.... Thanks for the advise anyway.

As far as the track goes,we're working on it just about daily. A really big jump
takes alot of dirt. Alot of dirt costs alot of money and sweat. Alot of sweat makes my old back hurt...I think I'll make some big jumps anyway...just might take awhile.

This is the 10th dumptruck load overall,shoveled by hand into a yard trailer,moved down to the track and shoveled off. A load has about 15-16 tons=about 150-160 tons total. That's enough dirt to cover up your house.(we really like to race) Not too bad considering I work about 280hrs./month in the summer,raise 3 kids, a garden and other obligations. Hope you come by and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Asheville is an easy drive to here. Thanks for all the replies.-mike
