My Losi 8T conversion - 11.04.2009, 08:53 AM

Hi Guys,

Firstly I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to another forum, but I'm sure a mod will be along shortly to let me know if not

Here's my 8T 1.0 blog, do consider this is my first foray into the world of BL/Lipo!

Hi Guys,

Sadly the Maxbashing website is still down...grr......

However, here's a bit of video of the first proper shakedown test from today, currently with 70% punch control and 25% braking force to tame things and make it manageable for my newb BL driving skills:

http://www.youtube.com/user/Sheks#p/u/0/IeGNKKoSyy4

Everything ended fine, ESC was barely warm, as was the battery, motor was warm but not really hot although I will measue it next time just to be sure, I could hold it but I know that's not a great measure!!

ESC mount came adrift too, so longer screws required to keep it in place for the next outing.

Thanks Magman, think it's doing about 45mph. This was the first real run from full battery down to 3.2v per cell and was mostly at WOT!!

The motor got warm, but not so you couldn't hold it and ESC and battery were only just warm. So for this open full throttle terrain running then the gearing is likely undergeared from what I've read here. But should be fine for racing tomorrow round the track.

This is my first foray into BL/Lipo after being a Nitro runner....so far, very impressed!!

Cheers dude, it's an old outdoor karting track that's unused, great fun with TC's as the surface is pretty smooth and it's a big expanse so ideal for a few WOT runs and a bit of a shakedown.

Running MMM, 2200kv Castle Neu, Hyperion 4S 35C 6500mah lipo. Currently got punch control set to 70% to tame it a little and try to keep some rubber left on the rims!!

Racing it tomorrow for the first time against the nitro truggy boys at our club....should prove interesting!!

I have my laptimes and details from when I ran this truggy with nitro, so it should be interesting to see the comparison.
