I have been running large scale petrol cars for a few years now but now I want to experiment a little with brushless cars. I already have a Hyper9 E, a XB 808E and an ERBE. All great cars but I want a true large scale brushless car too.
Now here is the setup as I see it:
Car: HPI Baja SS (got three to choose from)
BEC: CC BEC PRO (got it)
Motor: Neu 2215 750KV & 480KV (Ordered)
Kit: RC-Monster (hoping Mike will soon get it done

)
Batteries: Will test 8S, 10S and 12S setup (Got the batteries except for 10S)
ESC: This is where you guys can help me out!
Looking at CC's tech documentation it shows that surge watts for the 2215 is 5000 Watts. My calculation for 8, 10 and 12S setup's look like this:
5000 = 44,4 x A => A = 113 Amps(12S config)
5000 = 37,0 x A => A= 135 Amps (10S config)
5000 = 29,6 x A => A = 169 Amps (8S config)
Judging from those number I need an ESC that can handle up to 12S and 169 Amps. I have read quite a bit about the possible ESC's that are out there. I may of course have missed a few but nevertheless I have had my eyes on the ones listed below:
Castle Phoenix HV-140 Brushless Motor Control ($360)

Castle Hydra HV-240 ($540)

Hobbywing Platinum-120A-HV (price not shown)

Turnigy Monster-2000 200A 4-12S Brushless ESC ($190)

TMM 10063-3 Car / Boat Z-SERIES (€326)

And then there are the Schulze ESC's too.
Bottom line for me now is that I need some input from this forum. I want to hear if you have any experience with any of these ESC's using a somewhat similar setup as I want to use. I urge you to post the setup you used and how it performed. If you know of relevant topics that debate the same then please link to those or summarize the major points here.
Please keep it to the topic and help me out on this one.
Thanks!
