suggestions for power supply for hyperion? - 11.24.2009, 12:45 PM

ok guys
I just got the new Hyperion Dual III and need to know what size power supply I need to be able to charge 15 amps thru both outputs at the same time. I'm guessing 35-40 amp power supply?

What is the max power rating of both channels combined? Also, what is the max voltage it will take? Some of the higher output chargers will take voltages much higher to help reduce required current.

Once you know that, simply:

power_supply_amps=charger_watts/max_input_voltage/.8

The .8 is to account for charger inefficiency.

I bought the radio shack power supply - I think its 25W? Cheap, effective. havent ever taxed it chargeing 2 5S 5K packs at 1C.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Running on EXACTLY 12V, you'll need 37.5A (180W per port (so 360 total), divided by 0.8, divided by 12). 40A would be preferable to account for power supply capacitors aging over time.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

Yeah, 25w might as well go all out.

Since you have already decided on 30 amps then the output voltage (battery) will be your biggest variable.

Thanks for posting!

I'd rather have a 24v supply to run my chargers, but this is so cheap for the amount of power, can't let a good deal like this go by!

Hi guys, I'm also looking for a new power supply option... any thoughts on the below specs? I'll be using it to power my MRC 898.

Should do, specs similar to my 46amps server PS that can run a few chargers at once.
