MAX voltage on a RX8... - 12.04.2009, 06:52 PM

was thinking about running an 8sLiFe battery for the next season, nominal voltage is 26.4v, max voltage(off the charger) is 29.6v, compared to a lipo at 22.2v and 25.2v.

the idea of charging a completely dead batt in <15min is very appealing...

IIRC, the RX8 uses the 4833 FET, which is 30v (I think). And that's not even counting the caps or other v-sensitive devices on there. And, who knows if the firmware will even arm at that level Also, you always want some headroom because of voltage spikes during braking. I would try maybe 7s Life, which is the same as 6s lipo.

Or just have an uneven cell count. The weight of one cell won't make an appreciable difference...

6s is max voltage spec'd for the unit. Don't go above that range.

I know, but....

scratch that idea, it just died on me It ran fine for the past 6weeks, then it coasted to a stop on the track... I have lights, I can program on-board and on the PC, I have RX/servo, but no power to the motor(brushless or brushed), and no warranty left.

setup
T4(mounted on the bat strap)
novak 6.5
2s lipo
bluebird 617

why no warranty?

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
