HPI 5b. Help with a possible trade for one. - 12.20.2009, 03:14 AM

I've had one on my list of rc to get. With the price of a new one where it is at I haven't done a lot of research on them yet. Figured it was down the road a ways. It turns out I may have a chance to do some trading for one. The new e-revo I have with the twin titans doesn't seem like a trade that would be fair. Would probaly need to do a brushless setup on the e-revo to make it a better trade. What do you guys think? I usually do a lot of homework on an rc before I set my sight on search for a trade or buy one outright. Caught off guard on this deal. Would the addition of a MM 4s setup with a feigoa be close or the same with a Neu motor. More? Less? I will stall so I can get some of your opinions. Thanks again fellows.

I would give it a shot with the set-up that you mentioned but it would be a stretch depending on the 5b condition.

It will definitely depend on the condition and which version of the 5b it is. Is it an original RTR, an SS, or a new 2.0 RTR? If you are unsure post some pics up here, if you can. Is your e-revo new, or driven and "new?" If your e-revo is new, as in not driven fresh out of the box, it might be a fair trade.

Just for a gauge, I've seen original RTRs go for $400 and less. These are ones that are running but more than likely need work, since they have probably been run a while. I've seen SSs go for $600 and less, I saw one with upgrades such as the Turtle Racing clutch setup ($200), go for $600 and it had only been run a couple of tanks. I knew both the seller and the buyer, so I knew the exact condition it was in, and it was in perfect condition other than a few minor scratches that are expected from running it.

Throw in one of your Novak systems if they insist. Make them ask for it first - dont offer it straight up.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

I just sent him some info explaining a little better what brushless setup I a have for it and how lipos are configured and rated. I will ask which version and see if he has pictures for me. He said he has two and doesn't need both. Just got the vxl revo and loves it so looking for the e-revo. I am offering him a roller that is actually all new parts from backups spare parts no run time on it. Installed with MM/BEC 4s maxx setup and a Neu 1515 1y motor installed. That get me closer so I have a new 6s turnigy balance/charger 2 new 2s 3300 and 2 used 2s 6400 all 30c rated. That bring the dollar amounts pretty close. More importantly we both are letting go of stuff we really don't use and getting back a happy face. The money values aside that seems to be what we are both interested in something else to play with.

If it comes down to it I will offer the nib e-revo with the brushless setup installed. Which could be an more costly price for me. The e-revo and evx esc is worth more and easier to sell new like it is then listing a roller with all new parts and a evx esc. I looking for something to spruce the new roller side of it.

Eventually I will go brushless with it. I see some $$$$ ring up when I think about that. So if I get it I will run it gas powered first then start the brushless collection fund for it. Have a couple already on that waiting list.

Thanks both of you that helps.

Hey, Jeff. My HV is down. The stuck rotor syndrom. Out of warrenty so I need to send in for a replacement HV4.5 the plus is that the one that is broken is the 1/8th shaft and the replacement i will be the 5mm shaft setup.
