Your question already has been answered as i talked with a buddy of mine who drives a MB5T/MBX6/MBX6T (he also confirmed that it is indeed possible).
I had a look at the manuals of the MBX5 and MBX5T:
MBX5 and MBX5T share the following parts:
E0103 Gear box MBX5 / 5T
C0256 Diff Case
C0259 Spur Gear
MBX5 Buggy: 1:3,38
. c0258 MUGEN CONICAL GEAR 44T
. c0211 Bevel Gear 13T
MBX5T Truggy: 1:4,6
. E0214 Conical Gear 46T
. E0215 Bevel Gear 10T
If you start this project with a buggy platform you will soon realize that you might have to widen the track (truggy arms or halfoffset rims ...) when using bigger/heavier truggy tires as the car will now be prone to tip over sideways (higher COG) more often.

Second thought: a buggy chassis is somewhat short to deal with the higher rotational force of truggy tires which will lead to more wheellies when accelerating hard (even with a center diff). You will have to transfer more wheight to the front of the chassis to get acceptable handling. Atleast those are my findings when i fitted my buggy chassis with truggy arms and tires.
