I have a bunch of stuff on order, but I would like to know if I'll need other hardware:

- BL Motor (Wanderer 8XL): What size/length screws does it need?

- Mod1 Spur. The Installation sheet says it is an M3 screw, but what length?

- I ordered some custom dogbones for the center drive shaft. I imagine I'll need cups. Will MIPs work? Is there any other hardware needed? They will be going on an E-Maxx tranny to Revo diff...

1. im not sure but something about 5/16ish of an inch to 3/8ish.
2. i would just use what ever length seems appropriate.
2. yes, you will. the mips will work but are a bit expensive. i would use supermaxx.

for spur I think i used 5mm long. The motor is a matter of how think you mount is and if you have the clamp on it. It don't screw in very far.

OK, thanks.

I will be using the RCM heatsink clamp and am using the stock E-Maxx motor plate.

I just want to pick up all the tid-bits I'll need beforehand so when my parts do arrive, I won't have to waste valuable time traveling to my LHS.

Ok. I think it was 5 mm for spur. It may have been like a6mm. it is not a long screw by no means.

OK, just wanted to be sure. What about the motor screws? I don't want to get ones that are too long and risk damaging the motor. Again, I will be using the RCM heatsink and E-Maxx tranny motor plate (which I believe is 3mm).

3mm for mount about 2 or 3 for clamp washer and a couple for motor. I would say 8
I think that is what i use.

Wow, there is that little thread in the motor to hold the power of these BL motors?!

Yep - for the screw length - you can also measure the amount that you need and dremel off the excess. If possible thread a nut on the screw before you dremel - to be sure not to damage the threads....

Well you can put more in it but if it touches the windings it is not going to run right. it goes in only a few mm. Look at the end and see how thing it is.

I think I will shorten some 10mm screws or something with a dremel like HotnCold suggested. It just floors me that there are only a couple mm's of threads across two screws holding these motors in place. Do screws ever break from the torque?

As for the cups; I asked Mike if he could add some MIP cups to my existing order for my custom dogbones, but he said they were already included! Yay! Good thing I didn't pick some up at my LHS!

You can use a couple washer too. It will space it out if you only need a tad bit.

Which connector (male or female) comes on the motor? I got some of the parts I ordered today, but the motor is still on back-order. So, I thought I'd do the soldering of the connectors on the ESC so everything will be "plug-n-play" when the motor does get here. From the pictures at RCM, it looks like the female 5mm connectors (the "socket") are on the motor wires. This would mean the male (split prongs) 5mm connectors go on the ESC wires, right? I would hate to solder it wrong and have to do it over...

Also, my 12020 ESC looks different than the picture at RCM. Mine has a single red power wire and a single black power wire, but two wires for each phase for the motors. If anything, I would think it would be reverse (two sets of power wires and one wire for each motor phase) since each of the blue wires will be carrying less current than the power wires at any one time. It's not a big deal, but I'm just curious why BK would do that.

A little off topic, but the BEC jumper is really buried in there isn't it! For a while, I thought my ESC didn't have a BEC until I used a strong light and saw it sitting wayyy back behind the red jumper. That's a lot of circuitry packed onto a small board!
