i think im a little over geared? - 01.24.2010, 11:58 AM

well ive been driving my brush less 3.3 revo for a good while now and everythings been fine.. besides it finding every week point in my drive train.,.
well ive noticed if i drive it hard for about 7 mins the esc fan will turn on for a while.. motor temps are at 113-120 after the entire packs gone. batterys are about 8 over ambiant. usually about 88-80.. should i gear down just a tad or is it fine where its at? im a basher but i am soon going to start racing it.

set up
mamba monster combo with 2200 motor.
turnegy 5000 30c 4s pack.
16/38 pinion/spur combo

Seems to be fine to me, if the esc is only getting warm after about 7 minutes of hard bashing and everything else is cool I wouldn't worry about it. If you where overgeared the lipos would be a bit warmer.

how are the temps for the esc after a full pack?

im no expert in this but id say those temps are great after a full hard run.

you could always gear it down just to see if it affects anything but id say your temps are where they should be.

+1 on this, I find that the MMM Fan always comes on in my Savage Flux, even if the case feels cold, I'd sooner it always on anyway. What gearset in the transmission are you using on the Revo, Wide, Close, Normal? My 3.3 on 4s A123 geared 16/36 with the wide ratio gearset and a HW 80A ESC, with a "Spinning Toaster of Death" KD 36-74-9XL Motor doesn't run warm at all, I think highest motor temp I have had is 145f on a 43 degree C day.
