Precautions for charging a cold battery? - 01.29.2010, 01:15 AM

I know there was a thread not too long ago discussing charging cold batteries but I feel like it didnt answer all my questions. Should I charge it nice and slow at first, discharge and charge again? They were in my garage that saw around 15 degree temps at the worst.

I also need to take it easy when running them at first right?

Keep it inside the house and charge them after they reach room temperature. That's what I do with mine and they still pack a punch after 3 years of using them.

^x2 once up to room temp just charge normally. no discharge necessary. no need to baby them once up to temp. just don't run them cold.

Alright thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I didnt have to do some trick and end up spending the rest of my Christmas money and gift cards on more batteries. Thanks again!

Awesome. First lipo I charged, a TrueRC 4000mAH 2s lipo started out at 7.253 after having sat for a few months. Next up to charge is an old SMC Lightning Volts 3200mAh hardcase pack. Its been a real tough pack so I expect it to be about the same.
