Brushless RC12L beater - 02.02.2010, 05:11 PM

I finally put together my RC12L from parts stolen from other cars. It has a Hacker C40 6T motor that barely fits. It also sports Luciano's LT-200A ESC(overkill), cheapo Turnigy Lipo battery and a mg micro servo. I am looking for a cheapo 1/12 scale body to fit. Maybe the RJspeed It runs well inside my house as it's way too cold outside.

This may be the body of choice.

Let me know when the plastic pinion gives out .

For real though, is it controllable? I have a 21.5T in my 12th scale and I race against guys using 13.5T or 17.5T and I think that's already fast lol.

hehehe, I've had that Integy pinion for years. But I never put so much "power" through it.

Is it controllable? Yes it is. I'm half throttle most of the time and only blip it full throttle in front of house. Too cold out for any real traction with those old foam tires. I'm going to cut .25mm of the foams with my truer and see if it gets better. I have softer drag foams I could try out for the rears. Like all my bearings, I lubed the diff with Royal Purple and is quite smooth.

I have some more parts to build another 1/10 par car. I need to get more receivers!

I finished up some more oldie pan cars. TRC Lynx and Composite Craft/rc12l hack job. Sad thing is, that the wife said to sell them.

Painting in the cold sucks and this is what I came up with for the rc12L

Would the 12th scale cars like you have shown be workable in say a plot for fun racing...or are they better suited for carpet racing

The closest thing to a carpet track, is the carpet inside my house. I run them at the LHS parking lot or in the street. They are high enough to run inside my house though.
