Support Help - 03.28.2010, 08:37 PM

I have an older crawler 18.5T with the purple mid section and the ribbed end bells serial m1n10580 that has melted one phase.

I've yet to check with a different motor if its also taken the ESC with it but was wondering what my options were?

RE replacements / upgrades?

Thanks

We currently offer a BL motor trade in program in which you can return any 540 motor and replace it with any one of 24 other RMF (w/new warranty) motors for 39.00 plus sh/hdl.

TeamNovak BL Motor Trade-In program

We are designing a new motor trade-in program (available in 2-3 weeks) that will allow an upgrade to Ballistics. This new program will offer three options:

~ replace, same for same
(return SS Pro 13.5 for a RMF SS Pro 13.5)
~ exchange, within group
(return SS Pro 13.5 (CR) for a RMF SS Pro/Vel (any other wind)
~ upgrade, to different group
(return SS Pro 13.5 for a RMF Ballistic (any wind)

We will also have a speed control trade-in program, based on these same three categories. Understand, the upgrade price will be higher than the others because customers who purchased "old technology" products are requesting newly designed/released products in return.

Another feature of this new program: Novak customers can return any BL motor, or any brush or BL esc we have ever sold and upgrade to a currently offered motor/esc.

Can you tell from the serial number what motor I have and what I would be able to get under the new for old replacement programme.

I need to test the ESC first as if the motors's taken out the ESC I might just throw away the setup...

Can you just buy the can/windings?

I don't have access to serial numbers; only cs@teamnovak.com can help with that.

You can exchange your motor for any other "S" code motor listed at my link above. We do not sell cans/windings for our older motors. What motor do you want in return?

Ouch Customer Services were able to advise its a Goat 2S 18.5T system...

Its $40 for the motor and $50 for the ESC (if that blew to) and $5 for handling and $10.25 for shipping + $30 to get new product... $135 in total..

Vs $165 brand new at tower with free shipping a and coupon it looks almost a wash...

If I go for just the motor its $40 + $15 + $5 + $8.65 = $68.65 vs $80 new...

You do not need new product; our service RMF products have the same warranty as our new items. So it should be closer to 105. We are not including the "upgrade to new" feature in our new program.

The motor alone would be @45.00 (39.00+5.00) (vs. 80.00 new); you generally have to pay shipping also for a new motor purchased on-line.

Ouch Customer Services were able to advise its a Goat 2S 18.5T system...

Were you expecting a different reply?

Thats true but who doesn't like new? :)

I'm in no major hurry I'll check if the ESC is good first - If its just the motor then I'll most likely send it in as I have a spare 14mm crawler rotor... (Any discount for not needing a rotor)...

If both are shot I'll probably go in a different direction and cut losses.

We do not examine items returned for trade-in.

Thanks for your advice Novaktwo...

I tried the ESC with a different motor with no success so the whole setup is sadly dead :(

Looks like I'm in for $105 for the RMF - In two minds still what to do at the moment...

Personally I would not even mess with the RMF at those prices. For just a wee bit more I would just start fresh with something new and go from there. Too much hassle for an RMF. Shipping the old one back, paying for handling and shipping back to you. Go with the Tower Hobby $300 purchase discounted offer of ($60), and get the free shipping on top of that. Just seems the best way to go $$$.
