Castle Mamba Monster bearings

Hello,

I wanted to get some opinions about castle bearing maintenance.

Some people here say (Europe), that its not good to drop some lubricant in them, because it's create an abrasive dough with the dust and can reduce bearing life time.

The bearings seem to be damp-proof, therefore i think that no maintenance is required. I have runned my 2200 kV motor during ~40 batteries, and the bearing still look great with no resistance when i rotate the motor.

Maybe the Castle staff can confirm this ?

Our bearings are dual shielded, so there should be no need for lubrication. Lubrication will just sit on the outside of the bearing and attract dirt to the most vulnerable part of the bearing; potentially doing more harm than good. It doesn't hurt to dust the motor off, and I have some seen some motor that have been almost completely filled with fine dirt. So taking them apart from time to time and clearing out the debris is not a bad idea.

i cant understand why there are so many bearing replacement questions about.
i know i plan of just running my bearings until they are totally shagged then might get a new motor if the bearings take out the rotor with them.
mine are showing a little slop, maybe 15 thou of an inch but it isnt worrying me. (even though in industry that means replacement)

So instead of spending a few dollars and 15 minutes installing new bearings you're going to run the motor until it gets ruined? I fail to see the logic in that.

The Europeans are right. I used to lubricate the bearings alll over my truggy just to find I eventually killed my bearing. That's definitely a OVER-MANTENANCE. The oil will flood dust into the bearing and kills the balls.

i swap the bearing when they go crunchy.

Running till failure however seems stupid, 150$ motor... or once in a while 2$ bearings... whatever will i do...

but i really wanna see how many miles i can get out of the suckers!, my spektrum DX3s has been logging the time on that motor since i got it.
100 hours and counting
and ive got a 1600kv medusa here as a spare while i wait for a new motor, next time i'll grab myself a 1800kv castle 1515.
