Q for Castle REP about my 1717 - 04.28.2010, 08:09 PM

I've recently installed my 1717 that I purchased form Horizon Hobby and also recieved a 5mm rotor from you folks(thank you).
What I've recently realized is my motor must be a Heli version ?
It has open endbells and 2 flat spots on the can and the KV is 1500 not 1580.
The open endbells was no problem, I sealed many NEU's befor. The flat spots, no problem dont care.

Any comments on this ??

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

Thats a heli version alright:

Those are the only differences as such ( kv, fins, holes ), should be good to go for use in a ground vehicle if you seal up the vent holes as required.

Edit: The heli versions appeared before the car versions, so if you bought the motor when it first appeared you would have gotten a heli version- the car versions came shortly afterwards but the inital batch came with 6mm shafts ( same rotor as the heli version I believe ). Due to an oversight on the listing ( on castle's website ) they were listed as having 5mm rotors by mistake- they now use 5mm rotors as standard for the ground versions & 6mm for the heli verisons.
