How's this for rotten luck - 11.04.2010, 08:39 PM

Recently ordered a Tekin 2650 buggy motor for my slash 4x4 project along w/a mmpro. So, received the package today from Tower and opened the Tekin box which was marked 2650 and WTF....inside is a 2250 truggy motor! So, contacted tower and after 5 minutes of waiting on the phone, I have to send it back...they are paying for that, and they will check into it before they will ship me a new motor. Because someone made an honest mistake, it will be up to another 2 weeks before I get the correct motor back...so the woman on the phone says.

I did contact Tekin to say what had happened and asked them to check into this issue of improper marking the box.

I know I am being petty with this rant, but I have been waiting until funds have allowed me to purchase the motor and once it arrives....I can't even use it. I do not even have another motor to put in the truck which is why this really sucks.

Again, sorry about the rant

Tower is not what it used to be, slowass processing and I deal with them a lot less because of that.

They seems as a collective entity to have become a bit 'retarded'

Can't really attribute this one to them, but overall they kinda suck, so there's my rant lol

As unpleasant as your situation is you should consider yourself lucky. At least Tower is working with you to resolve the issue. There are a lot more companies out there who just don't give a crap and will leave you hanging with their mistake. TH is doing their part by paying for your return postage, and sending you a new motor.

About two years ago I ordered a motor/ESC combo kit from TH and when the box arrived inside was a two part epoxy kit. It was obvious to me that someone had switched out the contents of the package during packing and kept the combo kit, because the epoxy was in the motor/ESC packaging. TH started an in house investigation trying to find out who was stealing from them, and the matter of my motor/ESC order was resolved. Sure it took a lot longer than I would have liked, but I was happy that they took care of the problem without making the situation worse. This is the risk we all take dealing with on line ordering. Be thankful that TH is a pretty standup company and that they will work with you to resolve the problem. Some times these things happen. I have spent thousands of dollars with them and I am quite content with how they handle my business.

Sorry But... - 11.04.2010, 11:27 PM

Sorry to hear TEKIN messed up. But I have to say Tower has been more than helpful on about 3 occasions for me. Untapped pinion - Sent New one Free. Heli shaft misaligned - Sent new Free. and something else...
Sorry to hear they didnt just send out a new motor but, its not just a $5-10 part IMO... No offense.

Thanks for the offer but... I will stay put for now. I have settled down a bit so looking at my rant it was uncalled for. This is the third incident this year with Tower. This problem was not their fault though...just very frustrating

I completely understand, but, I spend over $2K /year with them going back 8-10 yrs...so you would think that they would mail me out a new one pronto and charge my card for a new one while the old one is on it's way back then credit my acct. once the unwanted one returns. Doesn't seem to complicated to me to do this for a good customer..either way they are getting their money and if I do not send the other motor back, they made another sale.

I do not feel as I should have to buy another motor and pay shipping again, ( just on principle )send the other motor back, etc..

Have you tried calling and speaking with someone directly? They are most cooperative when you use a little tact and try working things out with them from a more personal level. I am sure that this could have been worked out to your benefit if you really wanted it to. Still you will end up getting your way, just not as quickly as you would have liked.

I did call directly and asked nicely to have this resolved as soon as they could. They said " in 3-4 days time you will receive and e-mail w/return shipping label". What frosted me was the fact that it is going to take 3-4 days for them to send a e-mail return label?

I own my own small business so I know all about customer service. I do understand that Tower is a globally recognized company and I am a spec in their eyes, but, their customer service over the past 2 years has greatly diminished. As I stated above, this is the 3rd time this year I have had an issue with them as far as receiving the wrong item, less items then I ordered, etc...

Well then you should understand as well as anyone that with our economy being in the dire straights that it is these days that things are getting more & more difficult for everyone. Even big businesses like TH are looking for ways to save money and avoid losing deals by being the nice guys in R/C. I would be willing to bet that they have been burned quite a few times by people trying to pull stupid crap like not returning the correct gear or even not sending in returns that were promised by customers. Look we get that your upset because things have not gone as well as you would have liked, but still the only thing you are going to lose here is some time. At least you did not lose any money in the deal.

you are right Jerry as far as the time goes..I was soooo looking forward to racing this weekend after a 15 year absence. Not to mention that this work week sucked so I guess I just vented a little too much. I normally do not sweat these things at all but everything built up at once this week and I became impatient much more so than usual.

Contacted Sherri at Tekin and after exchanging e-mails for a day she shipped me out a replacement motor. Tower made a mistake in asking for the motor to be returned to them. The motor was supposed to go back directly to Tekin as part of Tower's contract with Tekin pertaining to returns/mispackaged items.....so in the end as is well.

I even appologized to Sherri for the not so nice e-mail I sent. I said that there was no need for me to rant as I did...totally inexcusable and not normally in my nature. ( I had one of those really sh***y days and that just topped it off getting the wrong motor so I vented a bit...too much )

Sherri from Tekin was terrific...she did me a favor when honestly, I don't think I deserved the great service after the e-mail...just goes to show what a classy company Tekin is!

Not only that but like mom used to tell us you can get more done with politeness, than you can with sarcasum or rudeness. It never really pays to be nasty to anyone. Even if someone is giving you a hard time it is best to just let it go and move on. Glad to hear that this all worked out for you. Creating stress where none is needed is not only a waste of time but also not good for your health. Have a good weekend.

Jerry.
