R.I.P. my trusty old MMM - 02.17.2011, 01:53 PM

Today is a sad day. I just wanted to do some donuts in the garage with my ERBE so I plug in a set of 3S, the MMM harms correctly and counts 6 cells and beeps when it's ready. I give a little throttle and immediately, it fizzes and a lot of smoke comes out of it. I didn't have the body on so I was able to disconnect the batteries right away. The lipos were warm.

This MMM went to hell and back, lots of experimenting done to it in search of the best way to waterproof it. It ran in dust, dirt, sand, gravel, water, mud, snow, salty slush. It was cleaned, sprayed, brushed with solvents and soapy water, it was blown dry with compressed air, forced air, cooked in a toaster oven.

It had a difficult life but it kept on going for a good long time. Rest In Piece MMM, I will miss you.

No brain, no headaches.

I took a couple pics before sending the ESC to castle for Non warranty repair service. When I opened the case, the piece of wire that was used for the switch fell off?

Other then the switch wire falling off, the damage seems to be in front where the motor wires get connected.

Service will be Sunday at 8 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to those not fortunate enough to have the raw brushless power of Castle products.

Here's a happy update,

The MMM is back already. Well not exactly, it appears to have resuscitated into a brand new MMM from Castle.

The dead MMM was sent from Ontario, Canada to Castle Creations on Feb 18, 2011. The new MMM was in my mailbox on March 3, 2011.

TWO WEEKS!

Just two weeks it took for Castle to have me rolling again and I live up here in Canada. Once again, I am very impressed with Castle Creations, their product and their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Thank you Castle.

I ran it for more than a year, see first post, this MMM had a difficult life. The non warranty repair cost is $70. Plus the shipping you'll pay to send it to them.
