Radio systems. HELP ME CHOOSE - 04.18.2006, 03:36 PM

Hey Guys,
I need a two channel radio system for the E-Revo. I want something decent but not to crazy price range. This is for a customer whos new to the hobby so I want something he'll be able to work and use.

I figure around $100-200

Please help me out.

I was looking at this
Airtronics MX-3S 3-Channel FM/1 94102Z Servo 75MHz

The one you showed is a great beginner model, and it is glitch free. But id reccomend a Spektrum DX3, but if you want the "ultimate" beginner radio than use a traxxas TQ3, they arent THAT bad.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I like the futube 3 pm. I like the hitec agressor srx. The srx can be upgraded to the spektrum to. There is one catch I have found to a spektrum system. It wants to run wide open reverse for a sec on first plugged up. I know most I have named are 3 channel. If they get another rc with a 3 channel stuff only need the receiver to work.

Peace!

I can vouch for the Spektrum DX3. It has been glitch free and has a nice range of features for the relatively low $250 pricetag. The built-in failsafe and absence of crystals is nice too - no worries about someone else on your band.

I have an Airtronics MX-3 and love it. Its got a decent amount of options and a great price. I got mine brand new off ebay with rx and two servos with crystals for under $80. Since you have some more money than that you could go for the MX-3S. If you can, go for the Spektrum as I haven't heard anything but great stories from the owners.

I've been using a MX-3 (75mhz FM, non-synthesized) for over a year now, and am completely satisfied with it. The main thing I need is enpoint adjustment, battery voltage indicator, multiple model memories, and digital trims. This has that and more!

I don't know the features of the DX-3, but I'd go for that if I could afford it, since it is on the 2.4ghz frequency and doesn't use crystals (no-hassle!).

I would go with the spektrum DX-3. I use it with my e-maxx, t-maxx and micro rs4. I love the lack of crystals and built in fail safe. I am not sure if they are still available but they were offering a free extra RX total of 2 with the radio. The radio is real easy on the newbie, and the only drawback is the 3 model memory.

My brushless maxx in the hands of my 6yr old son is... bad. My brushless maxx in my hands... even worse!!!!

Like Metalman said, its only important to have endpoint adjustments, battery voltage, etc etc. But i like my radios to have a great feel too, dont wanna bash when your controller is made of rock;)

DX3 is great for $250, but RcBro's asked for a 2 channel radio in the $100-$200 range. Therefore surely it makes sense that the DX2 would be a better option than the DX3........as its only 2 channel and costs $170 and still has all the features of the DX3.

That is why I suggesteded a futuba or hitec with the modul. It is in the price range and can be updated to the spektrum at later time if choose.
