Weird MM issue

Ran into an interesting issue while I was programming an old MM today.

Had not used this esc for a year or so, had version 1.20 on it.

Updated it to v 1.30 wired everything and did the tranmitter programming, after it went thru all of the beeps the red led flashed quickly and i could not get the motor to turn or any of the other leds to light.

So I put it back to v 1.20 and everything worked great. Tried to go back and do v1.29 and had the same flashing led. Then tried v 1.28 and it worked, and was noticeably smoother than v 1.20.

Had a look on cc website, and found this:

Look at the notes for 1.29, "•Feature: RED led will flash if excessive voltage detected"

Guessing since I am running 4s lipo, the programming will not allow that when updated with the v 1.29 firmware. I am using a ccbec, and have the internal bec disconnected. I have also always ran this MM on 4s, no issues.

I completely turned the lvc off, made no difference.

The red led flashes when EXCESSIVE voltage is read. So I guess this is some sort of overvoltage protection, guessing 3s lipo fully charged is max allowed by this firmware revision?

Hmm. I may have to try it. Although, I don't think I have any MM's in any of my setups anymore.

This is correct. The engineers chose to add an over-voltage protection into the newer versions of firmware. If you go over the rated voltage on the controller, the red LED will flash quickly in the event of over-voltage and prevent you from using the controller. Just roll the firmware back to an older version and it will still work.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought I was going nuts. Smoked a MMM v1 a few weeks ago just by plugging it in ,and I thought I had killed this MM somehow... Crazy!!!

It is running like a champ, big thanks to CC for making such good stuff!

Any version of the link works, you just need to get the correct MM firmware update on your MM.

Go into the castle link with the mm connected. Go to software tab and just select from the list. Get 1.28

No prob, took me alot of head scratching to figure it out, so I thought I would share and maybesave others some grief..

I will say that v1.28 does run smoother than v1.20.

I also aw this listed in the v1.29 notes: •Bug Fix: Improved startup performance for some applications. Reverted to parameters from firmware V1.26. Not sure if that means v1.26 will run smoother than v1.28...

Might have t try that and report back.
