Proline 40 series Trenchers on proline VTR rims? - 08.31.2011, 06:32 AM

Could I fit them?

trencher tire SPECS:
Height: 6.89" (175mm)
Width: 3.43" (87mm)
Mounting Dia.: 3.82" (97mm)

VTR rim specs:
Mounting Diameter: 3.97" (101mm)
Width: 2.27" (58mm)

PS: the wheels which are designed for this tire (tech 5) are 2.75 in 70mm width

I don't think they will fit, without some serious mods to the tires. I have a set of 40 series bowties/velocity and they are nearly 3"wide, I'm thinking you'll need to section the tire to fit

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

But bowties are very low profile tires.

The extra 4mm diameter doesn't seem like much but it will be a stretch. That coupled with being a narrower rim would leave a lot for rolling on the rim, it may not handle very well.

OK. Then maybe somebody knows or could weight tech 5 rims for me? Its just because i want to save some weight on trenchers but if the the tech 5 rims arent very heavy than I'll go with them. VTR are only 55g but if I save like 10g per wheel and get bad handling than it isn't worth it.
