Castle Neu 1409 1.5Y 2400KV on 8th scale - 06.26.2011, 06:44 AM

I'm searching the board / web a while to get an answere about the Neu 1409/1.5Y 2400KV

Does anybody use this motor in an 8th scale car on 4S Lipo ?
I like to use it in my RC8 to SC10 4x4 conversion

currently i use the Tenshock X 802 2400 KV
This motor is a beast ! I love it but for my primary use it does have way too much power.
90% the time i drive the car on an indoor carpet track @ rc-glashaus.de

ESC would be Mamba Max Pro or ezRun SC8 120A

On RC calcutaltions this motor gets "recommended"

I used a 1412 in a Hyper 9 and it was great. I bet a 1409 would be good.

Quick question how does your body fit width wise and what body is it? I'm seriously thinking of converting my RC8T to short course, now to find a RC8b chassis cheap.

If you want to run the 1409 in a 1/8 buggy-based chassis consider getting a lower kv and running something like 6S 2200-2600mah. It will help keep the current draw low and keep the temps down on the smaller motor. If you want to run 4S consider the Castle-Neu 1415 2400kv and MMP combo. You can dial back the power with torque and/or punch control if needed.

Well the 1415 does have way too much power
I'm not going to 6S
I want a motor around 1000 Watt
I will give the 1409 a try

I use a 1512 2050kv motor on 3s in my 1/8th truggy. I know most people will say my setup is no good. But it is absolutely perfect for my track.

A track setup is alot different than a bash setup, the 1409 should be good.
