Bad Balancer? - 01.17.2012, 12:23 PM

Okay I tried to charge my lipos and charger kept coming up as a voltage error.
I double checked connections and settings on charger.
I pushed the reset button on my balancer.
Tried again same issue.
I changed my power supply and seen if that helped.
Same thing.
So today I hooked the batteries straight to the charger single.
Was charging just like should.
Could my LBA10 balancer be bad?

Peace!

Is this an external LBA10? If so, check the fuse on it. If the fuse is blown, it won't allow the charger to see the pack, nor will it allow charge current to flow, and will appear to the charger as nothing being connected.

Since you've tried different batteries, I would definitely look at the balancer since it's the common point of failure. Do the wires on the LBA have continuity? Are the connectors dirty?

On the one side the balancing seems to work some what.
Fuse is good.
When first hooked the batteries up the balancing lights started blinking like they was working. I don't seem to have that now even though put some juice in one battery.

Well couple test and it all come back to balancer.
Took it apart and it smelt of burnt electronics.
Seen a couple small spots that seemed to have gotten hot.
Out with the old I guess.
Yes this is extrenal.
Any suggestions for a new one?

I have an LBA10 for sale. Sadly it has to be sold with the EOS7i and 12v power supply.

Seriously, any balancer would work. Just get a Blinky. I've tried a couple at HobbyCity and they tend to need calibration.
