2nd place against truggies! - 08.19.2012, 01:39 AM

Here is a race result from a race 2 weeks ago, racing my Revo against truggies. It looks like I can keep up with the truggies no problem, and indeed getting 2nd place is pretty darn good, plus getting a close tie for 2nd fastest lap time.

Races are 15 mins long, and we race three mains per points series race day. I have to do a battery swap unfortunately, they are just a LITTLE too small to run 15mins.

Running 1512 3D/1700kv
Hyperion 45c 6s 2200mah packs (last ~12 mins)

The truck is actually very light and handles itself very good on the track, as the results show. It's running a smaller motor, very small pack which helps.

Check out the race results. I'm Seth.

That is sweet. I am hoping once I get my track Maxx built they will let me compete with the truggies.

Nice work!

Yeah lot's of places don't normally, but there was only two monter trucks left this year, so I asked if I could join the truggies as my times were better than 1/2 of the truggy guys anyways. The guy with the other MT retired his.

There is normally 9 truggies running in the points series, there is only one other BL running, a D8T running some cheapo chinese brand motor and esc power by ThunderPower 65C packs... weird combo I know. The guy works at a place that supplies them, so he gets them for cost.

Very nice sir! Way to show up all but one Truggy! Is this a large high speed track or very technical one?

Thanks guys. It's really hard to keep the truck straight with it's single speed trans. I was going to put in some truggy diffs into the truck along with a center diff but it would end up being too much money, not worth it, as I could buy a truggy for cash I would dump into it. Besides I can't seem to get anything from Mike right now, whether he is super busy, or forgot about me, I don't know.

One more of the full lexan skid plate, this thing is a wicked mod, the truck just glides over rough terrain and I don't worry about catching or damaging anything if I land wrong.

So is this a converted nitro revo? Do you still use it as a MT?

No, as the thread title indicates, I race with the truggies and am currently in 3rd overall standing and got 2nd place in the race I posted.

Well it rained yesterday before our bigger race today, and the track was A MUCKY MUDDY MESS! We had to put 19 bags of peet moss down over the track and even then it was bad. We had 2 qualifiers by 1:30pm and by the Mains race the track surface was dialed in, very sticky, traction rolling alot.

I was in 2nd place for the first 15 mins, until 1st had to do a battery swap, then I was 1st place until 18.5 mins, and my battery died!!! I ended up in 4th place out of 8 racers still. This thing is a machine on higher traction surfaces, I pull away from the truggies in no time. 1st place is a brushless Jammin X2 who BARELY finished the race with 2 batteries (1 swap) running TP 4s 5400mah, which he may have permanently damaged from running them down to 0% both! He literally barely made it over the finish line. It was an epic race, even if I ended up in 4th...
