Mamba/Tekin vs Feigao -
06.20.2006, 02:19 AM
Alright guys, I'm a bit new here, mostly been a Traxxas Nitro boy (Revo, T-Maxx, recently Jato) until last year, when I got my E-Maxx. Got the E-Maxx to full race status and then I got an HV (my only BL experience lol). Wheeling annoyed me so I am currently converting to a CF G2R. I'll be using the new HV 6.5 for my powerplant.
Just wanted to give you some of my (non-existent) BL background - so take it easy lol.
Anyawys, I'm thinking of building an RC18T. I'm going to get some of the touring car adapters, and throw on those new Anaconda Jato tires and a Mini Inferno wing and give it a little truggy look (the Anaconda's would actually work well on my local track, which is hardpacked clay), and I would mess around in front of my house on the street with it.
I was originally thinking Mamba Comp X, or more exactly the Tekin Extreme, since I heard the Tekin's ESC is more reliable.
However, while browsing around I saw the Feigao 380's. So, I was wondering, which is faster, more reliable? I wouldn't mind spending the extra 50 or 60 bucks or so (I was gonna use it in combo with a warrior 7020), and thats about the difference between that and the Tekin. The Tekin is actually a 280 motor, so I am thinkin the Feigao should have more torque, and the 380C-6L still has a 4900KV, while the 6T has 6800kv. So, its not lacking too much RPM's to the Tekin for its rather large increase in motor size (35%).
So, which is better or which do you recommend?

You will be lucky if the 380c fits.
I used the Mamba Comp X on my RC18T on 10 little GP1100's, went like it was on fire, never had a problem with it, reliable little setup.

I would use the Quark 30 amp speedo and possibly a small Lehner 10 series if you would spend the extra dough.
P.S.-Don't waste more money on a HV. Get a sensorless system from Mike and you will be amazed.

With the Lehner, I'm going to go with the 1015 12 turn motor. I've been told that it is equivilent to the mamba 8k in performance with more torque.
Squee, don't hate the Novak. Just because you can't go 50 mph with it doesn't mean its not a great system. I'm giving Nitro's fits with one with 12 cells and 12/72 gearing on a slick, small track:028: :007:
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I loved my first HV, so I think the new 6.5 will be fine.
I actually was thinking about that new Dynamite C4 9200kv motor...that thing seems like it would scream
I wounder how that would do with warrior 7020 with a 3S lipo, and maybe a 4S for speed runs hehe...or a 5S?!?!
I'm pretty sure the 380C would fit. The stock motor is a 370.

I'm not hating. I just don't really like them because there kinda overpriced for the performance. I have actually thought about getting one with a sensored Feigao motor for racing.
The 380C motors have a 540 bolt pattern and are pretty much the size of a 540 with a 380 rotor. Like all the Novaks.

Oh...never mind on the 380C then...
What do you guys think of a Dynamite C4 9200 with a Warrior 7020?
An HV has a 380 rotor?

Yup, it sure does. I would go for a Mamba motor with a Quark controller. A 7020 is overkill.

Mike doesnt have a the Quark 30 though does he?
Where could I get one?
Also, does the Quark have all those programmable functions like the Mamba and Tekin system?

Quark 33A is programable like the Tekin, but now where near as programable as the Mamba. I ahve bothe the Mamba and the Quark 33A. IMO the Mamba 25 is still the king of mini ESCs. Get the cable with it and the throtle curve, brake curve timing and just about anything else you want is totaly programable. none of that beep counting trigger moving hassle like every other esc in the world. If Castle creations ever get the Mamba Maxx and Monster Maxx out I am gonna be all over them, just cuz of the programing ease.
BTW

If you need more torque than the mamba 8K in a rc18 , you must be running 1/10 wheels and a titanium diff. :005: :dft012: The 8K shredded my Mini-t diff in 10 seconds flat. Ball diff holds up a little better, but still needs constant attention. If you were putting it in a bigger mini like the mini LST then I could see needing more torque.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I am actually going to run Jato wheels (4 rears basically). I guess I'll just get an 8k.
Thanks
