Yeah, kinda scary. I would really be leary about using laptops on a plane. It's not like you can simply throw it out the window! Not to mention the noxious fumes from e venting/axploding battery. Laptop makers should add a large sticker saying "Warning: may explode if used". lol. Some of the problem is the end-user. A buddy of mine lets his laptop get VERY hot, almost too hot to touch the underside of the plastic case - makes you wonder how hot the actual components are.

My wife just bought a super state-of-the-art HP for her business so I'm wondering if hers is affected. I'll be checking into that over the weekend.
and, yes, what would they do on a plane at 40,000' with a laptop spewing flames and noxious odors. Someone said if it gets hot "Don't put a pillow under it" which is exactly what most people would do which would make it even worse!
