Soldering Gold Bullet Style Connectors - 07.28.2006, 06:42 PM

Now I consider myself able to do a real nice job with soldering, but I have never worked with these Gold Bullet Style connectors before.

What is the best method for soldering the wires to these connectors?

Put flux in the hole where the wire goes in, stick the soldering iron in the small hole near the base to heat up the plug and tin plug with solder.

Heat the plug up again with the iron in the hole, holding the pre-tinned wire against the iron to heat it up also. When the solder melts, stick the wire in the bigger hole and let it get up to temp for a second, and then remove the heat and let the thing cool. Wire should be secure in the plug.

Please tell me that's not smoke I see!
