Need help, don't want to do a bad choice... - 08.04.2006, 12:56 PM

Hi friends,
Perhaps you remember me, here is what i run on my E-Maxx

- 14 cells Feigao C9L+ 9920 fan cooled controler
- RPM arms and towers
- MIP all around and at the center
- ACNCM bulks + Integy GB + hardened diff clutch and ring gear (Maximizer)
- Supermaxx servo saver on a pretty good steering servo (13.8 kg)
- Team Orion Rx pack
- low COG chassis, but not extended
- 40 series BigJoe/Masher/MaxMulsher tires
- GMaxx single speed
- RRP slipper 66/14
- 4 mm motor plate
- GreatAssembly 3mm Titanium skids
- Graupner XS-6 Race Tx

Now I want to buy an extended chassis, mine is pretty old and a little bent, and I hesitate between FLM one and GorillaMaxx one... I know that FLM chassis is not a low c.o.g. one, but I plan to mute to lipo soon... a good maxamps 8000mah pair of packs should be afordable in 2 monthes...
The question is: Do I have to consider the weight gain of the lipo setup, and choos the FLM 35mm longer chassis??? IMO the ground clearance gain with this chassis is a pure fiction, because the ground clearance is defined by the chassis braces and the center skid plate...
Do u undertand what I mean? The G-Maxx is a racer chassis, but why to keep a low C.O.G. with lipo packs weight gain?

I want to have a MT, not a TT...

thanks for the help! :040: pfff... :010:

Fab.

I would go with the Gorillamaxx. A lower CG is always good. Better handling, ect.

thanks Squee, but i have some doubts, why to run an as low COG on a MT? i don't want to obtain a truggy... is this the limit? Does someone have another opinion? What's about the clearance of the G-maxx chassis against FLM chassis clearance?

flm alternative = 90$ and G-maxx = at least 250$ ... it has to be considered...

Ok, if you like it like it is, I would get the Gorillamaxx. No offense, but I hate the higher CG chassis. The Gorillamaxx, Xtreme Racing, or even the Kershaw designs chassis are pretty much the only ones I would consider. Oh, one thing you might want to consider is the 3.3 knuckles and sliders. That would make your truck the standard width :p.

ok thanks for the advise, i will try to enlarge my truck, but with some right wheels at first... and i will have a look at Kershaw's chassis... what i don't like is carbon fiber, i like to run fast on the rocks, therefore i think that the carbon underguards will not have a long life enough... :( perhaps you can tell me more about carbon chassis?

Hi, I just made some researches, and i found that FLM chassis can be run with battery packs on top, or bottom of the chassis!!! i think that it's what i searched for... what's your opinion?

That is possible, but remember, there won't be ANY proction. Especially if you run LiPos.

I run the g2 chassis. I like it for bashing. I tried the flm chassis and didn't like it as much. The flm is a extremely tough chassis. I like the g2 better. You have a choice in length you want with the g2.

Peace!

They dont make that chassis anymore. The original chassis was made out of lexan. They also made 7 aluminum top plates (i have number 5 out of 7). They also made 4 CF bottoms (i have 1 cf bottom plate ) & only 2 CF top plates ( i also have 1 cf top plate. I also have a Gmaxx chassis & i prefer the racebomb it's more stable because it's longer by 1 inch. But the Gmaxx is still a great chassis.
