Currentdraw on 2s ? - 08.28.2006, 01:37 PM

Hi !

How many amps coud a mambamax 5700kv motor pull on 2s lipo ?
id like to make my rustler lighter by using a 2lipopack that's lighter than a 6cell nimh pack. woud a 2 6000mah maxamps pack handle it ?

A 50-60 amp pack should be enough.

ok ! so a maxamps 6000mah 2s pack woud be enough ? the because they are supose to handle lik 64Amps cont and 72 for 10sec .

And how much longer runtimes choud i get compared to a 6cell gp 3300mah nimh pack ?

To be able to run 3s lipo what packs woud be good then ?

I run a Maxamps 2s 6000mah pack on my 5700 system without problems. The runtime of this battery compared to GP3300s would be almost doubled, maybe a couple minutes less.
You could run a Maxamps 3s 6000mah pack if you want to go the 3s route. Just make sure to gear down a couple teeth.

If you gear it down on 3s Lipo, you'll still get more power out but since the voltage has increased the current draw will decrease. If you keep the same gearing when switching from 2s to 3s, then you'll need a battery that can handle more current since the load is the same.

As far as the Maxamps 6000mah battery being able to handle 100amps, it can do it in very short peaks (spikes). My data recorder has logged several 100amp spikes when using the 2s 6000mah battery on the 5700.

You should be able to get about 30mins or more if it's geared properly, depending on your driving style.
