shorten the wires

i got mamba max here, a week ago, only installed it yesterday.
shortened the wires on it, was very difficult to solder.:026:
finally done, i put in my t2'007 eu.
turn it on, calibrate.
leds burn out:007: , whats wrong?
did i F up?
could i get replacement now (after modding wires)?:032:

LEDs RARELY burn out. Which wires did you shorten? The motor and power wires are quite easy to shorten. The throttle cable might be a little more difficult. If you have a solder bridge between the middle red wire and the brown wire, you could have damaged the internal BEC, or it may be in "protection mode".

Thats why i never mess with a circut board, I cut at the plugs

If you did burn out the BEC, there is something you can try. It may or may not work depending if there is a diode in the circuit.

First, fix the problem with the soldering issue.

Then, try plugging a receiver pack directly to the throttle cable. For test purposes, you will need to wire up a female to female servo cable adaptor. But don't remove the red wire in the ESC throttle cable. If all is well, the receiver pack should power the ESC's internal circuitry.

If you see any sparks when you connect the Rx pack, disconnect immediately as there is still probably a short circuit somewhere.

If it does work, you can use an external BEC to power the ESC. Just plug the ESC throttle into the receiver (remove the test adaptor you made) with the red wire intact. Then plug the UBEC into the battery slot on the receiver.

The reason for the test servo adaptor: if there is still a short circuit in the ESC, you don't want to fry the receiver's circuit traces from the excess current flow when you hook up the Rx pack.

Or, if you don't want to go through all this, contact Castle for warranty work. Even if it is out of warranty, the manual states they will fix/replace out-of-warrenty items for a flat $50 fee. Pretty good price really.

nothing wrong with the bec, brian.
but its right next to where the red motor wire is soldered on, either the leds, there connections or the switch wires are smokin when i turn it on.
anyways, thank for all your suggestions brian.
i'll just take it to the shop i got it from, they are really friendly with me so far.
