Need input guys! Quark 125 on 6S experiences -
11.07.2006, 01:59 PM
here is a little email conversation between me and quark;
Me to Quark;
---------------------------------------------
I keep reading over and over that 6S on the quark 125 is a big nogo, several users wasted their controllers on it. can you please tell me if it’s possible or not to use 6S? (and will it be durable if I do?) in other words; did S&T upgraded something that would make the controller work up to specification?
Thanks,
Rene
Their reaction;
----------------------------------------------
Dear Rene,
It will not be a problem running w/ a 6S setup, if you encounter problems, just let us know
and we will give tech support or any other assistance to help resolve the problem.
We have been running 6S setup and have not had any problems.
If there is anything else, please let us know.
Best regards,

Well my stuff has a bad start off problem. It acts just like it has a wire off the motor. It jerks back and forth. Once i get it going it is fine. Works great
I wonder if that means they replace my esc. :)
Peace!

I also had an issue when trying to run 6s in my Quark 125. Like CHC it was a startup issue. Mine was not as bad as CHC though. I had some relatively hard cogging at startup. But only from a standstill. If I was rolling at all I had no problem. It wasnt undriveable, but it was very annoying and bothersome. There was obvoiusly something not right with it, because in any other setup the Quark 125 is buttery smooth... No cogging at all. After about 5 minutes of running, it smoothed out and there were no more issues untill I loaded in a fresh 6s pack. 4s and 5s have no issues at all.
This was when I was running a feigao motor on it. I have not tried 6s again since switching to the Neu motor. I'm wondering if the 4 pole will help the situation. If I get a chance I'll trya nd test it out this week.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Jeff Hautzinger?!!
So you're the one who made the Quark heatsink.
It's lovely designed!
The name is Alawi. You can call me Al.
Nice to meet you!

Thanks. :o
Hey Rene. While you are at it see if you can get them to put a decent heatsink on that thing from the factory. I can't remember the last time I saw a Quark without some sort of heatsink strapped to the back. They just need to revise their aluminum housing to make it thicker on the bottom and add a few fins so there is more mass to absorb and disipate heat.
I wish they would address these nagging little issues. If they could, they would clearly be at the top of the heap of speed controllers that are availble right now IMO.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Captain, could you elaborate?
Nevermind...I see what your talking about now...didn't notice it until I read the other thread about it...(I knew about the heatsink but had no clue what he was talking about...)

Mine is at first hook up. After I once or twice get it to move. I don't have no problems unless I unhook the batts. It makes my motor warm as well. I fried the esc and my 1930. The replaced the esc but the 1930 is just junk now. The heat sink would be nice additive. I can't believe they say they don't have a problem.
For the record. The 4 poler made my worse. It was easier to get a 2 pler to go.
Peace!
