Lehner 1940 or 1950 for G-Maxx? - 01.11.2007, 03:21 AM

Is the 1950 going to just use up alot of extra unnecessary battery power? Will the 1940 be plenty of power without overheating and provide better runtimes? What do you guys recommend? I drive my trucks hard. Plan to be running 6cell Lipo for hard bashing.

Well, the 1950 is going to have more torque. So you would benifit from it if you had a heavier truck. It will use up more power though, naturally. But you may end up having the same because you may be giving less throttle for the same speed. It really depends.

I guess the comparison would be a 4.0L V8 vs a 5.0L V10. V10 would be more powerful and use up more gas, but you can get the same output as the V8 with only 4/5's the throttle amount (theoretically).

I think you would be fine with a 1940, but I'd wait for responses for the true brushless gurus.

6 cell lipo is pretty hefty. If you haven't go your packs, I'd suggest 5S... (2S on motor side, 3S on non-motor side).

I have a 1940/7 and it has PLENTY of power. I havent tried a 1950, but the difference between a 1940 and the Neu 1515 isnt really much different to me. Both have more torque than I can put to the ground without spinning tires or flipping over.

I really like the 1940. Its my favorite motor right now. Its just as good as the Neu and it will run on any brushless controller.

the 1950 would run cooler and give you more torque. you could also gear the 1950 so you get similar runtime to that of the 1940

I like the 1950 myself.
I ran a 9xl and a 14L with reall close kv.
The run time may have been minutes from each other as well.
So It doesn't seem to make a big difference.

Peace!

Sounds like 1950 is what I want. Now to decide which turn I want. Would 1950/10 be too slow?

for the 1950 and 6s Id go for the 1950/8. possibly the 1950/7 if you want to push it a bit. The 7 would be on the higher end of the rpm scale but I think you would be fine.

the 1950/10 seems like it would be better on a higher voltage than 6s. Im thinking the 1950/10 would be a 8s motor.

Edit: For the 1950/7 make sure you have sopme good batteries. That will suck some juice.

I see the 1950 motors are out of stock on Mikes website. This could change things.

1950/10 with 6s is gonna be crazy( gearing should go high, here). With 7 or 8s it'll be absolutely difficult to handle the truck.

1940 is more than enough for an e-revo.
