Are there any tests I can do to see if I fried my 9920?

Even if it still works, it could be weakened by having one or more of the parallel FETs burnt. I can't think of a way to test it realiably without some decent test equipment. And even then it can be challenging.

if it doesnt work correct after trying a different rx, diff batts, and a few other things u can swap its done

If I hook it up to a new motor will it damage it at all if it is messed up? Im pretty sure my motor I have now is damaged.

If any of the motor phases are constantly "on" because of a damaged ESC, it could certainly burn the motor.

Even if the questionable ESC works on a new motor, the remaining FETs could eventually go as well and could burn the motor later on.

I really would not run on a damaged ESC. Replacing just the ESC now will be cheaper than replacing it AND a motor later on. If you are running an XL motor, I'd just get a Mamba Max ESC since they are relatively cheap. Plus, the MM has a $50 "fix it no matter what" warranty. Can't beat that!

Thanks for the advice. Im living in germany right now so I will have my wife give bk a call on monday and see what they have to say about it.

I always err on the side of caution. Sometimes, it's better to be patient and do it right or you'll end up spending more money than you need to.

Something else to mention: I would make sure the motor you have is OK too. Running a bad motor on a good ESC can turn it into a bad ESC pretty quick.

Unfortuntely, it tough to test a motor with normal test equiment since the resistance of the windings is so low. You can measure the resistance of each winding to the can itself and should get an infinite reading. Also, you can measure the resistance of each winding just to see if any coil is open (burnt out). All coil resistance measurements should appear close to 0 ohms. If you have access to a conductance meter, you could measure each winding to make sure they are all the same.

Brian, the main problem is that his motor is ruined since he screwed in the screws to far. I doubt your ESC is damaged to be honest. I did the exact same thing and my ESC is fine.
