Hitec hs-5645mg steering servo

i keep on stripping the teeth off the gold color piece. what am i doing wrong? this is my 3rd set that i'm installing. metal gears are getting expensive for me. :-(

what is the servo saver that's supposed to help with this? i've checked the wheels turning and the servo can fully extend. am i supposed to set it so that the servo should be able to extend farther than the wheels?

is there any place i can just buy the gold color piece separately?

what vehicle are you using it on? i can't see the pic BTW.

are you using a bolt on saver or a camshaft servo saver?

this is on an emaxx w/ FLM chassis, combo bulk.

i don't know the difference between the servo savers you describe. sorry about my ignorance.

do you use a servo-saver such as a Kimbrough, that bolts onto your servo?

or do you use a proline or UE servo saver that sits between the lower skid and the top-plate of the FLM chassis?

You can also check to see if your EPA is not extending the servo TOO far and is trying to turn your wheels further than they can actually go. If they stop due to blockage, the servo will continue to put pressure on the gears as it's still trying to turn the wheels.

i just picked up an ofna servo saver from a local hobby shop. it attaches to the servo. hope this helps. *cross fingers* thanks for the help guys!

i can't remember what i read, but it mentioned something about how the plastic teeth that go onto the servo will get shredded or damaged somehow. can someone clarify this for me? i see on towerhobbies that they sell ofna inserts. why would they be selling so many of these?

Those are adapters so the servo saver will work with different servo types.
As far as plastic gears stripping I'm not sure what you mean.The metal geared servos usually have plastic gears in one place at the bottom of the stack and it could strip I suppose but have never seen one go before and I've repaired dozens of servos in my airplanes..metal and plastic geared.

steve, i was referring to the adapters. do they ever strip? like the area where the adapter fits onto the servo.

as the 1st post mentioned, i keep on stripping the gold metal gear. is there any way that i'm able to purchase just the one gear? i have all the other gears.

anyone using a Hitec 645 gear set? want to trade any gears? i'll trade all the other gears for the 1 gold gear. :-)

The adapters strip from time to time.

Try your luck on ebay, with finding a proline cam shaft servo saver.
