bump steer in the rear - 06.22.2005, 07:48 AM

Hi mike and company.

Didn't have a good day at work yesterday.
Spent the day at the hospital getting 60 stiches in my face after a piece of wood hit the excavator windshield .

SO I have some time off to work on my emaxx:cool:

With the stock suspension set up there is a ton of bumpsteer in the rear cause of the tie rod location.
I see the set up on your stuff has a pivot ball set up that ellimanites the tie rod ( in the rear)

I like the idea of RPM arms instead of aluminum but I don't like bumpsteer.

SO what you think?

I see the flextek also uses a rear tie rod .

Sorry to hear about your accident, man. Hope it's not too serious.
However, enjoy your time off.

This bumpsteer, well, I guess it could be eliminated. You can adjust the bump steer on a revo by tuning the position of the tierod on the knuckle.
I know the Maxx knuckles are not made for this, but have a look at a revo, might just give you an idea.

Something to check, though: Are you sure you mounted the tierod's rodend on the right side of the knuckle's mounting tab. (you can do it from above or below) Choosing the wrong position would give you horrible bump steer.

Gotta check mine tonight, but I thought bumpsteer in the rear is barely noticeable on a Maxx.

Ah, we got it.

Mine are on the underside. Just dug out that pic:

Also check the nice, homegrown cvd-boot;)

Change it, should work fine afterwards.

under is the FIX! thanks.
I had to raise up the upper shock mount cause the ft tie rod was binding. so now I have less droop but the bump steer is under control.

have to get 4 conical washers to put between the tie rod and the arm so it doesn't bind but this way is 200 percent better than before. Or maybe a rod end with a longer metal piece.
