On a two wheel drive maxx, not sure, but the HV comes with gearing reccomendations. I would run 11/72

I'd go with a 14 or 15T pinion. I generally ran 14T with my 4wd G2R.

i agree with newe.
even if you're running a 72t spur, a 15t pinion is pushing it. there have been too many stories of the hv system blowing with overgearing. i'm not taking any chances at all, and am running 70/12... which on a light truck could be undergeared (my motor was running about 140 degrees and the ESC was only about 85) but have since added a LOT of aluminum.
whatever gearing you use, just monitor your temps closely with a temp gun.

I was running a 14T pinion on my G2R under race conditions and it was holding up without a hitch. I'm sure he can get away with a 15T since he has 2wd. You'd be suprised how much strain that takes off...
