540C Xl only works with 18T+ size pinions?!?!? - 04.25.2007, 02:11 AM

Hi guys, I have received the rest of my parts from Mike, and built my truck. However, I bought a 15, and 18T pinion, although the 15T doesn't fit on it! The fins on the motor can bottom out on the tranny case before the gear mesh even gets close. Thanks! The 18T BARELY makes proper mesh with the 51T spur.

Does anyone else have any experience/trouble with that. This sucks!

At least the motor is only getting up to about 55-60C with hard bashing on driveway. It's way to fast though, right now i can't control it at speed with the POS TQ-3...other thread.

i had same problem with my neu and strobe with 51t spur. 18T fits ok, and for 16T had to dremel fins a bit. 14T no chance

Yeah, if I would have known that.... I should have bought the regular Fiegao can instead of 540C. Unless it's the fins, my motor is staying quite cool for a XL, 50-60C after a good run of 16.5v/4.6Ah.

Yeah, I've heard about and seen that problem with the finned fiegao'ss, neu's and hackers.
Some people grind the fins, some people use the 65t spur (can't remember who makes it). I think the spur needs a little bit of modding to get it to work on the strobe and the motor goes out past the top adjustment slot on the stock plate so you have to mod the motor plate or make another one.
OR you could spend some more money and get the hybrid bulks and some 1/8th diffs and change your ratio that way (51/15/e-maxx diff =16.67:1 . 51/18/buggy diff =16.14:1):027:

65T spur is from OFNA Monster Pirate and nees just little bit of triming but screw holes fit and thats the important.
