One thing that I see around the forum is tire ballooning. Is there a place where I can get air filled tires? This would eliminate ballooning, and make the vehicle much more stable. If it does not exist, it should! It couldn't be that hard to make (just use a basketball type valve). I just seems like it is time...
It's not the air that keeps the tires from ballooning; these tires need belting, which makes them heavier. the belting keeps them in shape and prevent them from turning into a balloon when they are filled with compressed air.
I don't know if it makes sence to use air, the fluffyness of the tires helps them with their grip.
For monster truck tires, Pro Line has the R series, such as the Crime Fighter MTR, Bowtie MTR, and Holeshot MTR. The "R" designates that they are ribbed and they do resist ballooning. I've found that they balloon substantially less than other tires.
Other than that, two layer of duct tape around the inside of the tire works well too. Just be sure to get the inside of the tires good and clean so that the tape won't let go.
About 10 years ago I had an RC that required inflated tires, it was a pain in the rear as I live in texas and there's so much mesquite and cactus around here it was hard to them from going flat. Also, do you think inflatable tires would hold up to the bashing that most do like 30ft+ jumps seeing as though most tires have holes in them to release air pressure when compressed? Just my .02, radials maybe, but air inflated on-road only.
I saw an article in a magazine a few years back about 1/5 scale on-roads using a new design of pneumatic tyre. But off-road, they would cause more problems than they solve.
