revo responses - 06.19.2005, 01:50 PM

would it be possible to get a revo response tire on a 40 series rim without cutting the tire? i have never seen them side-by-side so i dont know how big they are. they are made for the revo rims of course but i would perfer to get 40 series beedlocks. any info would help.

So you have to figure out a way to secure the bead in the locks

I thought the inner diameter of the revo tires differ from the 40 series?

If I hold a Response next to a 40 Bowtie, the PL tire is a good inch wider.

Also, the Traxxas tires have an 1/8 buggy style bead!

so what would be a better tire for a full on race-maxx? revo response? or proline bowtie?(40 series of couse)

They will both work fine. I would choose the response tire myself, as it is lighter and the wheels are less prone to wobble (although they can break). Others swear by the 40 series.

Your worst than me with this light weight stuff. I would say wait if you can for the proline crime fighter MT tire. Or get Panther Komodo LP tires. I wouldn't recommend stock revo rims (weakest rim I have ever seen) The huricanes are a good choice. I love both stock size tires and 40s. I like 40s alittle more now that I have a high torque steering servo.

komodoes arent on the top of the list because that would give it a better take-off with the same gearing and i dont need that. the crime fighters are out of the question. they have to be a short sidewall tire.

The crime fighters have a shorter sidewall than a stock tire or bowtie, but a little more sidewall than a 40 series. On a rough track, a little more sidewall is a good thing.

I would not recommend the Responses to anyone. It looks and feels as already a good balooning could rip these rubbers in pieces. They are just too thin.

I was thinking that too. Traxxas tires besides the s-maxx's tires are very weak and just shred apart under brushless power. Their rims are particularly strong in some cases either (12 lbs brushless emaxx falling 20 feet to hard ground). I would go with proline. They have never steered me wrong.

well that wasnt my concerns really but is somewhat now. (my maxx insnt 12 lbs....only 8 1/2:D) but is the extra width of the prolines make that much of a difference?

Probably not if you truck is nice and low then its not going to matter on a loose track. A smaller tire is easier to manuever with. If a crash happens in front of you, you can sneak by easier with smaller tires because they won't catch on any of the trucks, but a truck with 40 series is probably more stable than a standard rim truck. If you want to get the full potential of 40 series get a better servo than the stock 2055. The more contact area makes it harder on the servo. 40 series tires/rims are going to weigh more than crime fighters on sport maxx rims.
