The latest addition to the fleet brushless of course...

2S A123 - 1000KV outrunner / MM / UBEC @ 6.2v / 645MG (came with it) / Losi claws (weighted)

I'm waiting in the shock standoffs from FLM as they were missing from my package...

I did the inside like mod for the bottom links however I'm finding the tires are running on the springs - Ideas?

How do you like the outrunner? I have an 833kv motor that I plan to use in my axial based crawler on 3s lipo. Only issue is that it has a 5mm shaft... I can fit a 9t pinion and 48t spur. Should give me comparable wheel speed to a 55t on 3s, and most likely alot more power...

Found some info, the 55t is around 1160kv, so with the stock axaial 87/14 gearing the truck would do about 5mph on 3s lipo. The 833kv outrunner would require 48/14 mod 1 gearing to provide the same speed... I may even run 4s and lower gearing!

belt drive instead of gears

No room to get the required ratio and a belt in there... I am using a pede tranny for my center reduction/motor mount...

Seems to be working out ok - Feel like I could get more power but it is doing the job - Only running a 2s A123 2300 pack - Debating about picking up one of the new 3s 1100 A123 packs.

Need to complete the stage 2 mod but really have to figure out the shock issue - The rubbing is very annoying - Once I complete the mod I'll have even more travel...

I'm not sure if it isn't the wheels - They are stock I think and maybe I need a set with more offset...

Not sure what to do - buy new wheels or extensions such as these : http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/shop/ind...roducts_id=963

Tony any ideas?

PS My son really likes this car - I guess I make all the other ones go too fast! This one he can just mess around with...

I would recommend trying the internal springs first, but just on the front. If you widen your track width it will put more stresses on the stub shaft, so in a fall you would be more likely to bend. It would work however. The other method is to inboard your front shocks. You will need stiffer springs to keep the same suspension rate as before. The red dots are mounting points, and the green represents the shocks.

Thanks- John do you have any view of using buggy shocks for an AX10? i saw that this had been done but not sure if just for show - I still have the stock plastic caps and bodies.

I have buggy shocks on the rear of my SPV2 chassis. Nothing to stop you from using anything you want really. They would probably work better on the front with the modified mount points.

Do you have room to mount the shocks on the inside of the chassis? Looks like it could be done. MIGHT hit that cross bar on the ends of the chassis plates. You will most likely have to move the axle mounting point inward as well to get the right clearance and moving the shocks in towards the center of the axle will put more leverage on them while articulating but that can usually be compensated for with shock tuning and using limiters on the shocks. To much articulation can get you into trouble.

Hows the low end and the start up power on that motor? I ran an outrunner on one of my scale rigs once and wasn't really happy with it. Probably to small of a motor for my rig. A sidewinder with a 55t lathe and 3S lipo is my favorite setup. I love the wheel speed and low end control.
