got some lipos!! charger/balancer? - 06.16.2007, 02:21 PM

well i was searchin ebay for some lipos and came across this deal http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3979&rd=1&rd=1
i think i can part out the truck and get around 4-500 not including the lipos so basically i got the lipos for free! they arent the exact ones that i wanted (was gonna go for maxamps 8ks) but these will definetly work for now!!

now comes the question. which charger and balancer? should i go with the hyperion stuff? that seems to be the most popular.. i think the charger i was looking at was 180 and then the balancer 40 maybe? not sure. anyways im going to order tonight so they will be here when the lipos arrive!!
i have the ICE charger as of now but i might want to get a different charger since the ice only charges at 8 amps. might want to charge the lipos at 2c.. still debating.

did i get a bargain or did i get screwed?

I assume they are two 2s packs? Pretty much any charger capable of 4s and 4.9A will work. The 989 is hard to beat from what I hear, but no personal experience.

Personal preference I would think. Best thing to do is look through the feature set of both and see which has more features you'll actually use. You might want to think about any future projects and the batteries it will require...

ya im definetly going with the hyperion chargr/balancer. for 15 bucks more than the 989 i can charge 6 more nimh cells and i can charge at 2c for lipos. now maybe for now i wont want to but maybe in the future.
