3S 9L hpi mt2? -
06.26.2007, 02:20 PM
I've got three older polyquest packs, all 2s1p (i'm guessing 1p).
7.4v, 3100mah, and 12c/16c
the only motors I have are my neu, and a feigao 540c 9l..
I'm thinking about rebuilding the packs into a 3s2p pack, and throw it in my hpi mt2 with the 9l.
so that'd be 75a and 100a peak, do you guys think that'll suffice with the 9l in a 1/10 4wd stadium truck? the motor has a 3345kv, so it'd be similar to a 7l

Yeah that should be a pretty good set up. I have thought about using a similar kv motor in my MT2 as the mamba motors I am using now seem almost too much on 3s.

That'll be fine :). However, the 9L is something like 2700 kv (there was a batch of mislabelled motors, my 540C 9L was labelled the same way).
In my MT2 I run a 540 (non-"C") 8L on 4s2p A123, which is higher voltage than 3s Lipo, and it runs fine. Actually, having it geared for 55-60mph seems to be the sweet spot for the 8L :).

thanks both. metalman, i was under the impression that the label was correct, because the C's simply had different kv ratings than the smooth cans? so you're saying the 540C 9L is the same as the 540 9L?
and I figured I'd most likely buy another lsp center diff, and use the kyosho 46 gear with 18-24t pinions.. w/ 3345kv, that'd be right around 50mph.
what else needs to be upgraded on the mt2? it's a non-18ss or 18ss+, just the standard nitro mt2.. front and rear diffs? how's the rest of the drivetrain/steering/suspension?

The C cans are the same as the smooth cans internally, despite what was thought in the past.
I can't comment on the durability of the normal MT2 since I had the 18SS from the get-go.

I think the diff gears will be the first thing to upgrade. And maybe drive cups (check part numbers against the 18SS).
