stearing servo - 07.08.2005, 01:49 PM

I finaly got aroung to working on my money pit/Emaxx. I installed a hightec servo. How do I conect the arm from my servo saver to the servo? All of the holes are to small. If I use the stock round thing-a-ma-bober that is conected to the servo and drill a bigger hole it will not pull the arm far enough for full turning. Do I use the one that came on the stock servo? It dosnt look very strong.

Also I will be buying some lipos for it next month. Its been so long I forget what I was supost to get. Right now I am running 18 gp3300. I think I was supost to run the lipo parrallel. But I dont remeber. I want about the same amount of power but alot more run time. What configerations of lipo's do I run?

You can go to a hardware store and pick up a 1/8" (or 3mm) drill bit. That would get the whole to the right size. Or, if you want it threaded (and can't thread it with a screw), you can get a 3mm tap at your hardware store (they should have that).

Nice to see you are still enjoying your bl maxx!

is it the horn that does not fit the servo? The best solution is to get a proline servosaver.. (shaftcam type) what kind of servo did you bought?

About the lipo's. Your setup asks serious power from the batteries, i doubt if a Kokam 3200 that can deliver 64 A is enough.

In that case, you need to go to a 2P setup, and if you want to get about the same voltage as with the GP's it would be a 5S2P setup. I do think that one kokam 3200 can pull your sled (1S), but it would decrease the lifetime of your lipoly's

Hey Serum, I think I allready bought a proline servo saver from mike. If I am geting the termanoligy right, it is blue and connects to the chassis and turnbuckels ? My servo is hitec hs-5945mg, should give it plenty of turning power when its ripping threw the sand (if I can keep the front end down) . The horn is the part I am haveing problems with. I have a miny turnbuckule that comes off of the stearing linkage that conects to the servo. What horn should I use? Plastic circle horn, metal tear drop horn? All of them the holes are to small to conect the miny turnbuckle that comes off the the stearing linkage?

The lipo part you lost me, I was thinking of going polyquest but I am not shure. Mike helped me, a while back but I dont remember. I think I was supost to run a 14.8v and 7.4v parrallel. I think this way it will give me double the mah so if I use 4400 it will be 8800 mah to give me lots of run time. Not sure if I am remembering correctly?

Oh yeh finally got my metal tranny put together. Only thing left stock is the shifting servo and radio. Oh and the bumper mounts for stress points.

Okay, if you have got the saver (it is the thing you are talking about) you should use the blue metal horn that comes with the 5945.. (sweet servo, i got one too, it is fast and strong)

The tear drop looking one? Do I drill the hole bigger. It has 4 small little holes. I was going to use that horn becuase it was metal and I figured it would be the strongest. Could you try to explain the lipo configuration again please. I dont understand them verry well, and the cost a few dollars so I want to do it correctly. thanx

to get 8800 mAh@ 14.8 volts from 4400 packs of 7.4 volts each, you need a 2S (serial) and 2P (parralel), but those 7.4 volts 4400 packs are allready 2S (one cells is 3.7 volts)

So you need 4 7.4 volt packs of 4400, to make a 14.8 8800mAh pack.

Get it?

that is 18 X 1= 18V under load. those lipoly's won't drop much in voltage.

That would be either 5s (lower end, down to 15volts), or 6s (higher end, with the lowest voltage being 18volts).

OK, I was looking on http://www.maxamps.com/ . Could I use 2 Lipoly 4200mah 5S2P 18.5V Pack and run them parrallel. Then I would be at 18.5v and 8400mah. Is that to much power and to long of run time for the 9L and 9918? I have 2 fans on the motor and 1 fan on the controler. 8400mah would give me the long run time I am looking for. Would I be ablel to get these batt. to fit on the carbon fiber chassis? They are 35mm X 196mm X 42mm .

That would most likely be way too much voltage for the 9L. Try some 4S2P 4200mah packs. Those would fit better anyways.

Are you using 18cells with your 9L?
