Diff cup fit and finish - 08.04.2005, 08:29 PM

Hi all
I just joined the forums recently I have been lurking here for about a week. Somewhere in the forums I read about somebody having a fit issue with the Traxxas stock diff gears in the Fastlane diff cups. I was wondering if this problem had been resolved yet since I am thinking of ordering a set of the diff cups.

I was looking at those as an option too. The primary thing is a set of FLM's cost around $60, a set of those cost around $100. If I read enough opinions that almost twice the cost is worth it for the Maximizers then I will go for it. I have been upgrading my emaxx over the past year so I can eventually go brushless with few to no worries about durability. My current configuration is as follows:

Xtreme carbon chassis standard (they did not have the brushless version when I originally bought this)
GA bulks and bulk braces front and rear
GA ti skid plates front and rear
UE idler gears
CVDs front and rear
Robinson slipper kit with 72 spur gear
stainless steel hex screws throughout
Everything else is stock

I plan on upgrading the diffs and CVDs for the center next before buying one of the brushless motor and ESC setups. Someday I may get a gorillamaxx chassis and suspension to replace my current.

Mike addressed fastlane about it. It is nothing serious. Just need to round the end of the pin through the gears. Not sure though if it is fixed.

Peace!

It was me who originally had the problem with the cups. The spider gear shaft didn't fit properly into the diff cup. All that was needed was to file/dremel the ends of the shaft so that they were round. I believe Mike has no resolved the problem with FLM, so it should be a direct fit now, without dremelling.

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I wish that instead of spending my money in the aluminum diff cups with robinson gears. I should have put that money into the ue upgrade to the 7.5 rears. You buy the gears and diff cups for 120 for the 2( not sure on the price). Buy you some aluminum diff housing another 50 to 100 depends on what and where you get. 220 you have the 6 spder gear set up with diff cups.
