lightening the revo?

I was going to order the new tekno conversion for my revo a little after christmas. I want to lighten the truck as much as possible because I will most likely be running a VXL system on 3s lipo. same system i have in my e-maxx. I want everythign to be lighter without buying a CF chassis... what is the best way to lighten everything? especially the tranny..

Well, the FOC helps a lot. If you use the motor for reverse and brake, you can remove the servo, linkages, brake pads/rotor/etc, but you'll need to lock the tranny into a single gear. The trouble with locking it into a single gear is that I'm not sure the VXL on only 3s lipo will be burly enough to pull the Revo (even a lightened one) geared for a decent speed without the motor, ESC, or batteries getting hot.

3s lipo works, but you'd be better off using 4s lipo or higher and using a larger, lower kv motor. Things will stay cooler and not work as hard. Just my $0.02.

well i keep my maxx in second gear and after a full battery the motor and esc are warm, hot if you hold your hand on it for more than 10 seconds, but not too bad. i am a little worried about it though. neu or feigao? which is better?

The VXL won't fit the Tekno conversion unless you get an adapter for the shaft, the elektri-clutch needs a 5mm shaft to work and the VXL is 1/8 in. Neu's are definitely better, they just cost about 3 times as much as Feigao's. Brian's right, a higher voltage setup with a bigger lower kv motor is a better way to go.

well for the neu motor. is the higher price tag worth it, or should i just go with a feigao? either way i will be running a mamba max esc and probly both a 3s and a 4s lipo packs

Well the question is it worth it to you? To me, a guy with a limited budget, it's not, at least not yet. To many others, it is. Read around and weigh the benefits for yourself. Either will do better then a VXL setup.

If you run the Mamba on 4s, make sure to use a BEC. If you want to run 3s, the Neu 1515/1.5D is the best choice of motor we used. A Feigao 6XL should work too. It is recommended to go 4s though as some have suggested.

The Neu's are definitely worth it IMO. You get what you pay for. That said, the Feigao's can't be beat for a value motor.

i already have a pack i could use for the BEC, just the one i have in my revo already right? standard 6v reciever pack. and i am on a very limited budget....

Yes, that will work, just remember to disconnect the red wire from the ESC to the RX. A BEC would be a better choice then a seperate battery because it would lighten your truck, but other than that it's fine.

BTW, the Tekno battery box (part of TKR1002) will fit underneath the battery tray from the brushless conversion.

If you're on a budget, your best choice is Feigao and Mamba Max. You'll still have great performance, it'll just run a little hotter.

It's cool, no worries It stands Battery Eliminator Circuit. Basically, it's a circuit that eliminates the need for a seperate RX battery (like you 6v one from your Revo) to power the reciever, esc, and servos by drawing power from the main battery pack. The MM has a built in BEC but it cannot handle voltages that high (4S) without overheating and possibly burning up. That's why you either need a seperate BEC meant to handle the high voltages or run a battery pack (like the one from your Revo). And you need to disconnect the red wire that goes from the ESC to the RX because that will disable the ESC's built in BEC.

i know what the esc one is because that is used on all brushless setups. but what is a seperate one and where can i find it?
