Bargain Big Bores - 06.11.2008, 04:22 AM

I have the new Kyosho Big Bores on my ST-RR truggy and I noticed the action is much better than the standard Kyosho shocks I was running on my buggies. I figured if they work good on my truggy then they should improve the handling of my buggies as well. The problem is the Kyosho Big Bores are super expensive. I happen to have my old CEN TR Arena truggy laying around and I noticed the shocks were pretty big. I measured the diameter of various shocks and found the CEN shocks were actually semi big bores. The Standard Kysoho buggy shocks came in at 14mm (shock body width), the CEN's were 16mm and the Kyosho Big Bores were 18mm. The length was pretty close so I bolted them onto my Kyosho buggies and tested them on the track. They were an improvement over the standard Kyosho shocks, they felt smoother and the buggy seemed to handle better. Another benefit, is the CEN shocks are slightly smaller than the Kyosho Big Bores so there is no interference with the driveshafts and the CEN shocks can be found on Ebay cheap. The only downside is the CEN front shock does not have as much travel as the stock Kyosho shock, which limits up travel slightly.
