Muggy's Savy Flux Build! - 09.12.2010, 04:32 PM

Ok, here's my Savage Flux project I have been working on for the pass few weeks. I bought a used truck, and took it completely apart to rebuild and clean, while adding some other upgrades I got. Now that it's done, I'm sorry I didn't take more pics while I was buildinging it. I would like to say thanks to Freeze for some good tips from his build. Though, most of what I have done is hard to notice! LOL Here's what it has done to it:

Electronics/Batteries:

-MMM V5 ESC with Flux Tork 2200kv motor (sealed front endbell with screws, rear with electrical tape) Zip tied in place so the motor dosn't move forward on bad landings
-CastleLink
-4 Turnigy 2s 5200mah 30c hardcase lipos with Traxxas connectors
-Spektrum DX3.0 2.4ghz Radio System
-Battery Box Mods: Opened up rear went, flipped around, and some extra foam
-Velcro

Suspension:

-HPI Swaybar Kit
-Losi 45wt Shock Oil
-White Hellfire Springs
-Black Bas Horsie Shock Socks
-Tube mod with Extra Spacer
-Muggy Turnbuckles on the rear (had them laying around, and they are the perfect size, and much beefier than the stock ones)

Steering:

-Ball Bearings on the Steering Posts
-Shaved hub/axle carrier Mods for a MUCH better steering radius!
-Hitec 5995TG Steering Servo (Same as 5955TG)

Drivetrain:

-HD Drive Cups (on the Diffs/Bulks)
-HD Interior Tranny Gears (All shimmed correctly with some extra diff shims)
-Robinson racing Hardened 20T Pinion Gear
-Diffs Filled with 50,000wt Ofna Diff oil, and Losi Black Grease on the Orings for a better Seal
-Extra interior diff shims to eliminate play
-Slipper Tightened All the Way down

Chassis:
-TCS 5mm Standard Length Red Chassis
-Tony's Screws Hex Screw kit used throughout (very nice kit, would recomend it)
-Threadlock used on all metal-on-metal cases
-Heavy duty bumper screws front and rear

Bodies:
-Stock Flux Body
-Proline 2008 Ford F-250 Body
-Proline Body (Black) (Not sure what it is?)
-HPI 1969 Doge Charger Body

Tires:

-Proline Masher and Badlands mT On RPM Revolver Stablemaxx Wheels
-HPI Mud trencher Tires on HPI Wheels (Not Pictured)
-HPI Dirt Bonez Tires on HPI Wheels (Not pictures)

That's about it. I really love the way this truck handles, has great steering radius even with offset wheels (High torque servo is a Must). Torque is insane even on 4s lipos, standing backflips are sweet! the suspension is plush enough for small stuff, but can take the big jumps too! This truck is tough as nails too. All in all, I'm really glad I came over from the ERBE side to experience Fluxfullness!:cheers

It's a little scratched up, couldn't resist going out to run it before taking pics!:D)

Took it out today for some jumping off a bmx ramp I have. Went good, nothing too hot, and only thing i broke was a rear muggy turnbuckles. switched them out with the stockers.

Nice looking Sav there mate. What's with the zip tie around the motor, can it really move forward?

Ya, on really hard forward landings the motor can slide forward in the mounts.

thanks. Its a little funny htough, by just looking at it all you can really see that's upgraded are the tires, and chassis! (Maybe the shcoks too). I guess it's whats on the inside that counts

Must take a helluva crash to do that as my first Flux never had issue and it had some rough landings

Yeah, but it really isn't that hard to do or expensive or anything, so why not?

nice list of mods to improve a great truck. Rear tie rod eliminators from integy is what you need and you wont have to replace any more of those annoying turn buckles

Unless the screws were loose to start with, I highly doubt that would occur. Trust me, I don't think anyone here has put down more hard landings (ie., bad driving!!) than I have, and the motor in mine has never slipped forward/aft. I have had it come loose side to side ONE time, but nothing else.

But if someone wants to add zip ties to their rig, more power to 'em.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

As i said before, why not? Doesn't cost anything, and not hard to do at all. I had some of the turnbuckles pop out on my last night, maybe I should get those integy carriers...
